ROY KELLY EARL LEWIS RAY McCASLIN MRS. MARJORIE SEILING Clerk tt TRUE SUCCESS The person who does the best he can under the circumstances in which he finds himself, is successful even though he may never become wealthy, learned, or famous. A man with five talents and small opportunities may use his limited ability in such a way as to be of more service to mankind than one having ten unim- proved or misused talents. True success involves the use of one's powers in the service of his fellowmen. This kind of success brings great satisfaction and reial happiness to the person who achieves it. F. R. McLaughlin, Superintendent. TO BE SUCCESSFUL To be successful is listed very highly by most young people as one of their goals in life. Yet, what does to be successful mean? It has many definitions as there are people to define the term, because the standards of success are set in the minds of the individuals. They may be high or low. To the person with high ideals, suc- cess must have an element of unselfishness, and a concern for others. It strives to lift the burdens of others and make them a little happier. The really successful life is one which makes the world a little better for having been lived. G. Hoy Burns, Principal. FACULTY 5 SVE E li f , Q it , , .... 5. Q'-, .x.-5 ...Q . A The Freshman advisers were Mr. B. Bricker, Miss B. Schaaf, and Mr. H. Troutner. Taking the second step in their stride, the Sophomore class boasted 62 members. There was a succession of resignations for presidency. Lenny Smiarowski was the first to attempt the presidency, Jim Lowe, the second. Last but not least was Bob Hetman. The job being too difficult, they con- tinued the rest of the year without a leader. The other officers were secretary, Georgiana Christoff, treas- urer, Millie Okapal, and chaplain, Harold Bailey. A social scene at which much profit was made was the skating party at the Commodore Rink in Perrysburg. The class advisers were Miss M. Diebel and Mr. C. Fetters. Climbing the last steps of success they passed on to their Junior year with Bill Verbosky as president, Jim Lowe, vice-president, Georgiana Christoff, secretary, Millie Okapal, treasurer, and Harold Bailey as chaplain. The first to occur on the list of events was the sale of magazines. The two Junior home-rooms were competing against one another. Mr. G. Wolfe's home-room gave Mr. B. Butt's home-room a party, as they were the losers of the contest. In February the J-Hop was sponsored by the- Juniors. No monetary profit resulted. The most important event of the year was the Junior and Senior Ball, an event for which everyone had patiently waited. It was held on May 28, 1946, in the Woman's Building, Toledo, Ohio. The highest step of achievement was reached when the class passed to their senior year with presi- dent, John Gregor, vice-president, Harold Bailey, secretary, Millie Okapal, treasurer, Lucian Kmonk, and chaplain, Jim Doren. The Senior class advisers were Mr. H. Kohler and Mr. G. Wardell. To start the year off right a weiner roast was held at Pearson Park on September 28. The Seniors next enioyed a party, held on March 1, 1947, in the high school gym. There was to be dancing, but the amplifier was not in running condition so they returned to the music room to dance to the record player. ' The National Honor Society had charge of the recognition day program held on May 23 in which many seniors took part. V' Commencement was held on May 28, with Margaret Hall,as Valedictorian and Bob Dudek as Saluta- torian. FRANK, athletic director and coach of the Junior Hi Team, taught his team fundamentals of football, and we hope that this training will grow and produce Grid- iron Heroes for the years to come. It is our sincere wish that these lads will get to ploy in the new stadium. Resuming his career as coach at Rossfard after serving 3W years as a lieutenant on a P. T. boat, COACH R. LEWIS faced a task of building up a team to meet a very heavy schedule. He produced a team that had a fairly good record and also proved that heiretained his coaching ability. We sincerely wish him many successful seasons FOOTBALL RESUME .R 32 :mf ff gt., imyfv. r A XT T.f'?2gff - s lit -VV. ff lf i il. is if, fr ff 4 'I This ig MR. P. sHArER's first year as assistant coach at Rossfard. He has had four years previous experience in coach- ing, three of which were at Port Clinton. He put his time and energy in as line coach, and did a very exceptional iob. Mr. Lewis and his inexperienced Bulldogs opened their '46-'47 football season by traveling to Lake- side to chalk up their first victory of the season 7-6. After a week of practice trying to correct their faults, the Bulldogs clashed with the Maumee Panthers, and were given their first setback of the season 26-6. The next week the Bulldogs went up against their traditional rivals, the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets, and fought to a 6-6 tie. After the Perrysburg game 'four of the regulars were put on the iniured list. The Bull- dogs then met the Whitmer Panthers and were handed their second defeat 30-O. This game proved to Coach Lewis that he had some very reliable reserves. Next came the Holland game which was almost a sure victory and ended so, with the Bulldogs on top 37-25. Sylvania Burnham came next where the Bull- dogs lost a very discouraging game 8-6 by a safety. Traveling to Swanton trying to add another victory to their season, the Bulldogs showed what they had, and defeated the Swanton Bulldogs 21-13. Next came the final game of the season, the only home game, and perhaps the Great Northern Conference. The Bulldogs put up a very impressive showing but the Eagles proved to be a little too strong. The final score was T2-6. TOP ROW-M. Badik, D. Almesfer, B. Dudek. SECOND ROW-G. Wcynar. THIRD ROW-D. Liedigk, H. Spencer, D. Raffigan, B. Verbosky, E. Zabick, F. Kralik, L. Gwozdz. E. Poor vision in later years often results from improper lighting in schools during the formative years for the only pair of eyes a person ever has. That is why proper illu- mination of schoolrooms is so important. . The way tololntain eye-resting interior lighting is to use larger winclow areas which permit natural daylight to flood every comer.
