F. R. McI.auqh1in PRINCIPAL TO OUR FORMER STUDENTS IN THE ARMED SERVICE We oi Rossiord High School are justly proud of you, our young men and women, who have been called to serve your country in this great conflict. Your sacrifice and service so exceeds the contribution of those of us who are permitted to stay at home that we express our great appreciation for what you are doing. Our hope is that you may soon be with us again to make Rosstord High a better place to live. G. H. Bums Page 8 SUPERINTENDEN T APPRECIATION Appreciation is a prerequisite of the achievement of the highest success. It is indispensible to the development and sym- metry of the other virtue. To be the recipient of kindness and assistance without grateful emotion is weakness, if not meanness. To respond promptly to personal favors with an expression of appreciation is strength and nobleness. F. R. McLaughlin G. H. Bums

BOARD OF EDUCATION r-. Henry Werner Ir. Charles Burrell President Vice-President Marlene Selling EV'-'1 M- KGHY Clerk Treasurer p. Earl Lewis R. H. McCaslin S A L U T E While those charged with responsibilities incident to operation of Rossford Public Schools have in the past seized every suitable opportunity to stress the merits of the forward look, I feel impelled to emulate your laudable example in the dedication of this space as tribute to uniformed RHS' alumni now serving in every theatre of World War II. We honor them for having put into actual practice the principles of unselfish sacrificial living with courage and devotion. Everywhere they are acquitting themselves nobly and we, who on bygone commencement days sent them forth with congratulations and prayer, feel very proud. We serve them best and honor them most worthily by upholding, nurturing, and living the ideals for which America stands. Anxiously we await the happy day of their return, when unitedly we can resume the forward march toward realization of every proper goal set before us. Meanwhile, we greet and salute the former RHS students who unhesitat- ingly heeded their country's summons to the colors, and, as in panoramic procession they now file before the mind's eye, we solemnly ponder what might have been if they and their comrades had been less brave.
