Second row: Kelly, Langevin, McCaslin. The peoples' choice is a very fitting name for the Board ot Education. These people are selected by the electorate ot our community as being capable and Well able to be at the head of the school that their children attend. The citizens should feel secure in placing their cl'1i1dren's school lives under the jurisdiction oi these few select people. Thus We have choice people of the peoples' choice. Page Seven we .gyoafoerinfenalenlf sSZ906lA5 . Page Eight When l was a boy in school, my parents and teachers impressed me with the idea that things of value in life can be attained only through hard Work. Now after years of experience and observation, l am convinced that what those advisers told me is still true. The boys and girls Who receive the high grades in their classes do it, not because they have so much more ability than their classmates, but because they are Willing to toil industriously until their task is done, While others perhaps are satisfied just to get by. As it is in school, so is it in life after formal school days are over. The suc- cessful and happy men and Women are those who have learned to Work at the job until it is Well done, regardless of how long it takes or how Weary they may be. They While their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night. Sincerely yours, F. R. McLaughlin. MR. F. R. MCLAUGI-ILIN MR. G. H. BURNS ow rilfzfcoyoaf 53906646 . May the years you have spent in Rossford High School help you to appre- ciate the value of self-control. That by the exercise of self-discipline unworthy desires may be subjected to a will that knows what is best for the body, that the drudgery and sorrows of life may be met with cheerfulness and patience, and that well disciplined minds rnay on occasion lift you to lofty heights of achievement, I urge you to practice this virtue. 'l-le who reigns within himself and rules passions, desires, and fears is more than a king. ' -Mr. G. H. Burns. Secretary Monitor R-Echo C!0'L55 Adfory We, the great class ot '4l, proudly passed into our Freshman year with an enrollment of IU4 students, the largest class in the school's history! Hand- some Iim Stanford was elected president ot the class that was to be heard. The saying goes that children should be seen and not heard. Our class, though, was one that couldn't help being seen and one that was always heard. r From thence we marched into our sophomore year. The class had slightly decreased in number but we were well up there in size. With lohn Knurek as president, we put on a Sophomore Spring Swing which was more ot a success than was anticipated. Iuniors, 88 strong, we pushed all customs aside. We produced no Iunior Play but from our candy sales and a very successful dance we gave the Seniors a ball which was held in the Woman's Building. lohn Knurek was our president during this school year. Embarking on our last journey through school life we placed Gus Boenko at the helm. Again We broke a precedent of our predecessors. No Senior Play was put on by the dignified Seniors. ln spite ot the failure ot plays we are always able to put over dances. Such was the Senior Dance. A Fe- markable successl The Senior prom was a dance that will always be re- membered. Commencementl Ah! We have reached our goal. Our motto was chosen with this thought in mindl We came, we studied, we conquered. So ends the history of a class that always will be remembered for their mem- orable thespian abilities. We take our place in society, and we wish all the luck in the world to the class ot '42. Page Twenty three 5nap5Aof4 ge Twenty-four ' g e wb CN WM W Page Twenty-five ' 1 we? K N 6614? With a new coach, Mr. Robert Lewis, former alumnus of Rossford High School at their helm, the year ended with 3 wins and 5 defeats. This was a year of rebuilding, as many of the boys this year were out for the first time and had little experience.
