OHIO Ross School has enjoyed one of the best years of its existence. A building program was in progress throughout most of the year, however, which handi- capped movement through the building at various times. Excellent cooperation was shown by pupils and teachers during this inconvenience. The completion of the additions to the building has provided excellent music facilities for all grades. It is hoped that many students will use the music rooms and avail themselves of the opportunity to participate in the music activities. The addition to the auditorium-gymnasium increased the size sufficiently to accommodate more gymnasium classes and pupils. Too, more seating space became available for attendance at basketball games, plays, commencement exercises and other public functions. Continued emphasis on improving in- structions Was shown by the faculty. lVlany faculty committees Worked throughout the year to bring the courses of study up-to- date. These projects will enable the Ross School of the future to be a still better school. It is hoped that the seniors, especially, and all students are proud to have been a part of the Ross School of 1957-1958. Yours very truly, Mr. and Mrs. Finkbine and son, Dale, enjoy- ing an evening at home. have stimulated -your desire for' further knowledge by their teaching, understanding, Euan Inumahip Svrhnnl FRED T. FINKBINE, Superintendent VERNON THOMAS, Principal . w M71 HAMILTON-CLEVES ROAD HAMILTON. OHIO Dear Readers: New objectives, horizons, and goals are forever ahead to spur us on to greater and fuller lives. The objectives are beyond the horizons, and the goals we achieve are obtained by looking forward to each new horizon and the objectives we have placed there to work toward. It is our hope here at Ross High School to help you establish sound objectives to make the horizons bright and happy. and throughout your life, in some small way, to make those goals easier to reach. The education the seniors have received. and the undert-lassmen are still working on. is something that cannot be taken from them Rather, it can be added to by further school- ing or vocational training. The amount of education you obtain through life depends upon the desire you, as individuals, have to increase your knowl- edge. The faculty and administration hope they and guidance. We also wish the c'Class of '58 bigger and better opportunities in the future, and that they will make Ross proud of them, and that they will be proud of Ross. Memories of hours of homework, hard work on school publications, moments of fun and laughter in and out of the classroom. We can look back on four years and know that they have been four good years. Four years which have prepared us for the future. We can remember the thrill of our first dance, the Sophomore Sock Hop. We can point, with pride, to our Homecoming Dance. We can remember the hard work to prepare for the Junior-Senior prom and the wonderful fun enjoyed by all. We must all remember the Junior and Sen- ior plays, the class trip, and, more important, stepping forward to receive our diplomas. We can indeed look back with pride upon these years of work, play, and study. We are ready to face the future and what it holds. But we can also look back on our activities as underclassmen. We can remember, with pride, our Homecoming Dance, our Soda Pop Hop, our addition to school spirit with the sale of shakaroos and schedule pencils, our Junior-Senior Prom, and our participation in all school activities. ' After we point to all of our accomplishments, we, of the .lunior class, can then turn our attention forward. Forward to our Senior year. Our Senior year when we shall have our final hours of home- work, our last exams. When we shall edit our school paper and the 1959 Rossonian. When we shall cheer at our last high school football and basketball games. When we shall attend our last high school dances. Yes, we can look forward to the time when we shall go on our class trip, receive our diplomas, and at last we are on our own. Our school days are ended. Yes, we can look to the future. K ,Q 4, . . We now look forward to our next two years with great enthusiasm. We can look back on our last two years as we sold shakaroos, took part in clubs and other activities, and put on our first dance. We can look forward to our other dances, our participation in more activities, our Junior and Senior plays, our Junior-Senior prom. Yes, we of the Sophomore class have ahead of us hard work, long hours of study, and times of fun and enjoyment. Added to basketball, G.A.A. offers such activ- ities as swimming, bowling, baseball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, field ball, bound ball, and table tennis to its members. Participating in these sports, the girls develop better mental and physical co-ordination. Rodra Brooks shoots from the free throw line. This strong organization gives girls of Fresh- man, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes an opportunity to share in activities pertaining to sports. Athletic-minded girls can find here an out- let for their energy. Members of the girls' varsity team watch the game intently. Girls who do not like all athletics can find here at least one new game that they can enjoy with the other girls. The Girls' Athletic Association teaches girls the value of team work, sportsmanship, and school spirit. Here the girls have an opportunity to take part in friendly competition. An annual spring trip to Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, is something looked forward to by everyone in F .T.A. OFFICERS .IOANN MAYBURY S ecretary-Treasurer MARILYN McELYEA President BARBARA BAILEY Vice President Newly formed this year, the Ross Pep Club was for the purpose of adding to the representation at games and to general school spirit. Members of the Pep Club were on hand at all football and basketball games. Following the lead of the cheerleaders, the voices of the Ram-Peps could be heard above most others at each game. The sincere efforts to cheer the players to victory earned a great deal of praise for the members of the club. During the year, the Pep Club was responsible for arranging transportation to a number of the games and enabling students to attend games held away from home. The whole school appreciates what this organization has done to add to a good year. OFFICERS Sandy Brunner, Secretaryg Carlla Knaus, Presidentg Pearl Jones, Vice Presidentg Pat Adams, Treasurer. MR.
