y flaw t Soplfistor HISTORY of the Class of i23l XYell, as the Croghan is to be printed in only one volume it must be cut rather short. An enemy might, if he were summing it up in one sentence, make a bare statement of our most prominent achievements: a partisan would go on to describe the ease of our victories Qin various thingsj our unselfish cheers for victorious foes, the brilliancy of our recitations, and the uniform success of our cribbingg but the impartial historian must steer a middle course avoiding truth as much as falsehood. Feeling the need of giving the Freshmen a standard to live up to, we re-entered F. H. S. last fall and proceeded to organize for the betterment of the school. Our rules were rather strict considering the fact that previous to this year we had none, but our more conscientious members try to see that the rules are carried out and the rest of us feel our conscience pricking just about every other minute. Many things will the Freshmen thank us for, and many other Freshmen after those of '24. XYe have had several new teachers and all of us have tried our best to initiate them this year so that the Freshmen will have an easier time next year. Wie eeven consented to play the Freshmen in football and basketball, and even lost a few games to themejust to give their historian something to write about. Our skill and prowess is not entirely in one line. lllhat would the football, basketball and track teams, the dramatic and glee clubs, the orches- tra ancl the band be, without us? XYe have wonderful talent in every line from musical ability and bluffing, to athletics and hot air. XYe have the most per- sistant cutters, the hardest digs, the most complete flunkers and the most brilliant students in High School. ln recitations our answers are the best, our mistakes the worst, and our translations and prommciations the most original. Our classes are enthusiastically attended our interest the best, and re- sults the most satisfactory to all concerned, but most of us specialize in English. , Vlfe think of our instructors with reverence and respectg of the Seniors with a slight interest and puzzlementg of the Juniors with a very slight interestg but of the Freshmen. well. we are no longer interested in the least. except to make a calf-path for them to follow, As the year draws to an end we can truthfully say that we hope next year to see the fulfillment of the plans made this yearg that we have reached a point to which no former Sophomore dared aspire, and that now, the ideals of the Freshmeng the superiors of the Juniors, in deed if not in nameg the envy of the Seniors and the pride of the facultyg one's proudest boast in F. H. S. is, Ml am a Sophomore of '23f' --LUELLA CAMERON, 'I' .-.-...-...-----.-5-.-e.e,s,,e-:::.........-.fe 48 ..-,..-.......-......-.-.-.-...............-.-.-. 4.
