The student Council, under the di¬ rection of Mrs. Vera Taylor, has an important part in making the student policies of Rosman High. This year, the officers of the Council attended a leadership conference at Hender¬ sonville High. Some of the projects spearheaded by the officers included signs for the football stadium and gym, and a sound system for the gym. Also, the Council sponsored the Christmas Dance, Hippie Day, and Slave Day to raise money for its pro¬ jects. One of the most active clubs this year is the Beta Chib. Among the service projects it has accomplished this year are the making of tray fav¬ ors for the hospital at Christmas, working on the school beautification program, and Christmas caroling throughout Rosman. When you sign up for Annual Staff, be prepared to become a “Jack- of-all Trades.” The year begins with an Annual Workshop at Furman University, designed to introduce the staff to new techniques in designing lay-outs, writing copy, and planning pictures. The 1970 Oriole was then planned and planned again as the staff strove for the best possible cov¬ erage of a year of history in words and pictures. In addition, the staff has sponsored fund-raising activities, such as sock hops, the Homecoming Dance, and the highlight of the year. The Miss Oriole Beauty Pageant.
