-r 1 One warm spring afternoon in the year of '55, I sat dreaming in economics class. The noise seemed to be floating out into space. Strange things started happening, I, Effie Chapman, am home on vacation from California where I am a hairdresser an the M. G. M. lot. I went up to visit ole R. H. S. to see how things had changed in the last ten years, this being the year 1965. The first person I am to meet is Bill Pangle, the new prin- cipal of Rosman High School for Sentimental Reasons? I see Frances Pape behind the desk as his secretary. I find that Elaine Talley is the new Physics teacher. As I walked dawn the street, I stop at a big restaurant which is owned and operated by Harlowe Mason. It is most famous for its fine foods. While talking with Harlowe he tells me Mary lou Woodring lives happily with Jr. taking care of the little Jr's. louetta Hubbard is living with Sherrill who is an Army Major in Fart Jackson. Shirley Stewart is now taking care of her nine children. Judy Bulter is happily married to Howard Crowe. It seems a lot of our girls have embarked on the sea of matrimany. He tells me Detric Holden naw owns a big night- club on 5th Avenue in Rosman, where Anna Lau Jones is a boogie-woogie dancer and the Apple Sisters, composed of Mar- tha Ann Thomas, Coleen Owens and JoAnn Owens, perform every night. I go up to see the girls and they tell me Alice Mc- Coy is naw living in Germany with her husband who is a 5-Star General. Time seems to fly and I find that my vacation is up and I board the bus back to California. I find the driver to be John Frank Fisher, who drives a Greyhound bus across the states. We stop at the station in Virginia and I see Martha Galloway as a ticket agent. Her husband is stationed there with the Navy. She tells me that James Chapman is the new professor in the University of Virginia. We journey on to Washington. There is a lot of confusion in front of the White House. As we finally scramble through the crowd, I see Carroll Brown now a congressman, on the front C'1aAA Prophecy Veranda congratulating Barbara Galloway who has just won the title of Miss America. We meet Floyd Janes on the street and he tells us he has just talked with Marvita Hall who is now a Republican Congresswoman in Washington. Back on the bus to New York, I find Yancey Whitmire who is a star football player at West Paint, traveling an the same bus. While talking he tells me Johnny Whitmire is now a 6-Star General. He said he had seen Earl Aiken who is a lightweight champion boxer in Madison Square Garden and Harald Fisher who is a heavyweight champion wrestler. As we enter New York, we see a huge crowd gathered at the airport. We are informed that Jean Whitmire, farmer R.H.S. classmate, has just become the first female jet pilot. We go over to talk to Jean and she tells us that Shirley Crowe has become another Judy Canova on TV, Everette Greer being her sponsor. Dorothy Chapman has just become the Bohney Blond of New York. As we journey on across the country, we stop at a dude ranch in Arizona for a night's rest. We find that the owner and operator is Ima Jean Galloway. Finally back in California, as I bid John Frank good-bye and start aff, I meet JoAnn Hall. She tells me she is to become Mrs. Barry Sullivan. As our conversation is carried an, I find that there are a few new-comers to Hollywood. Norma Phillips is the Na. I opera singer. Joe Smith has naw taken Roy Rogers place as king of the cowboys. Donna Vee Galloway had just won as Oscar for the Best Lover of I965. She wanted me to attend a movie premier in which Carolyn Moody was starring. Carolyn is naw the second Marilyn Monroe. As I turned to go, I seem to have heard a crash. laughter was ringing out and as I finally opened my eyes, I find myself sitting on the floor. I must have been dreaming, and falling out of my desk was just the thing to wake me. But dear friends it was the most pleasant dream I ever had.
