Cunningham was a very important part of our lives at Rossie. We will always remember his good humor and support of all our endeavors. Mr. Cunningham saw us through two years full of candy sales, field trips, athletic events, and countless assem- blies. The Class of 1972 hopes that he will fully enjoy his retirement. He deserves it. Thanks for the memories . . . ! All things have passedg we are 1972 graduates. Can you think back three years to your first day at Rossie? After you got off the bus at the square, weren't you confronted by a crowd of arrogant juniors and seniors blocking Poplar Street? Didn't it seem as if you were being swallowed by a crowd of 500 other confused wise fools as you tried to get into the auditorium? A welcoming speech by a distinguished gentleman start- ed off our lives at Rossie. I-Iow is your memory? High school brought new freedoms: no more silent filing in the corridors or standing to answer in class. But high school also brought new frustrations for sophomores. We had become the least important class again, so our homerooms were put on the bottom of all the activity lists. The only assemblies we saw that year were during the Hong Kong flu epidemic when the rest of the school was absent. We had one good break that year-our teachers gave us an unscheduled vacation. Classes, of course, were still held for those few students whose mothers forced them to come. Unfortunately, our luck ran out, so we patiently f?j waited for June while the seniors got all the attention. Summer vacation passed very quickly that year. We retumed in September with a new junior status. We were no longer on the bottom of the pile, we were number two so we tried harder. In January long-await- ed changes began to appear at Rossie. After con- fronting the School Committee, we had the dress code dropped. Jeans became the common mode of dress and hair lengths crept farther and farther down the back. The end of this year brought us a preview of what senior year would be like. We went on a field trip that we'll always remember and Plymouth would rather forget. Class elections got everyone involved in school politics. You couldn't walk down a corridor without being hit by wall to wall signs. Some poets created such literary masterpieces as Don't be a dead- head, vote for the red-head and Diane Joyce is your choice. Mr. Cunningham and several dedicated teach- ers retired. We returned in September to a new headmaster and several new teachers. We had a new sense of power and superiority. We were now the big guys and the only ones who didnlt know it were the teachers. How quickly they found out! We had a very wet car wash, a loud rock concert featuring Ma, Pa, and Joe and 'fStill Frozen . a grinchy Christmas. and a great semi- formal. To cut down on the frost-bite cases, the Key Club and the Keyettes got together to serve hot choco- late and doughnuts before school in the cafeteria. For many of us. senior year meant filing too many college applications and forms. Class dues and caps and gowns reminded us that graduation was only three months away. After twelve years of anticipation we became the graduates of 1972 in a short one hour ceremony. VVhat will happen tomorrow? Well. one thing is cer- tain, our three years at Rossie will be the tie to past memories of good times and good friends . . . v in rt .. 5 . - , , A I . I I 'T superlatives . . We have outstanding athletes that always exemplify sportsmanship with the high standards set by our co-captains. BADMINTON: To open the fall sports' season, Badminton is the first com- petitive activity. Students select their own partners for the weekly intramural tournaments. Doubles matches continue into November in preparation for the City-Wide Competition. This year the competition was hosted by Girls' Latin School.
