A ' , 5 5+ 5-4- X6 LINC 62 XVe entered Roslindale High School three short years ago, filled with the uncertainty and indecision of adolescence, but witih a will to learn and a joy of life. The first years were not easy onesg the path of learning was strewn with many obstacles and pitfalls. The tests, the homelessons, the books, the studying-all were aeeeptedg all contributed to the building of our character. Happily, though, we discovered that school was not all work and no play . We par- ticipated eagerly in the games and activities which not only relieved the tension of study but also introduced to us new friends and wider interests. Truly, we have profited immeasurably from our years at Roslindale High School. Now the time has come for us to throw off the cloak of adoles- cence and don the robes of maturity, to use the knowledge and ex- perience that our high school years have given us, to take our place in a society which 'has often scorned us as 'tjuvenile delinquents while at the same time it has encouraged us as the Mfuture of America . Our childhood days are over, the fear and doubt, the bewilderment and timidity, the aimlessness and immaturity are all things of the past. ln the years to come, however, we will often look back over these days, reliving our trials and tribulations, our joys and sorrows, our successes and failures. May this yearbook 'be a pleasant record of the brighter memories-tihe happy moments, the triumphs-of our years at Roslindale High School. JOAN LANDRY, '55 Edifm--in-Chief ,. In the past few years no doulbt you have dwelt on the future. You have given thought to the success or failure that may 'be in store for you in your chosen field of endeavor. Graduation from high school forcefully compels you to realize that a most importan-t phase of your life has been completed. Other and more vital steps must be taken which will insure progress toward life's goals as determined by you. Directly in proportion to how faithfully you have carried out your high school obligations, 'both inside and outside of school, you are prepared for the tasks which lie 'before you. Ahead of each of you is a goal, the attainment of which will require you to bend your every effort. There is a place in life -for 'each of you if you will but seek it. Do not expect to reach your goals without effort and sacrifice. I recently read these lines, Of course we should never settle for a goal lower than our abilities permit. We all have the righ-t and even the duty to aspire to be something better than we are. Even if we never become so good as we should like to be, it is the breath of life to keep on trying. As Robert Browning sang: I Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a 'heaven for? Farewell, then, to each of you as you take your various paths in the journey of life toward the attainment of your goals. In saying farewell, may we also pray that each of you will fare well and that a 'beneficent God will accompany you in your journeys, leading you eventually to your earthly goals and finally to Him, your Eternal End. Think of your first day here when yoII had trouble finding even the assembly hall, where you finally saw a few familiar faces from junior high school-and of the real beginning when Mr. Kaner got up and read your names in alphabetical order and the numbers of your homerooms. HOW bravely your homeroom teacher tried to explain to you the mass of symbols on your program card, especially. that one X is gym bI1t one X and the word 'gym means military drill. The rest of the day was spent getting acquainted-with utter confusion. There were light spots in that first dark year, such as the excellent Roslyn Play, The Wed- ding, starring our own HPIIIEN HERBIANN. There were three dances that year. One, the football hop, was fair, if you overlook the fact that the boys all stuck to the wall! Having had plenty of time to ponder their mistake and take dance-lessons in girls' kitchens, they were Inuch improved at the Valentine Dance in February and at the dance for the benefit of the Cerebral Palsy Fund in May, which was a booming success. There are many other memories too, some clearer than others, such as the dissection in biology of those frogs, vintage 1942. The French Club was active, as proved by Rl.-'ARIE GALvIN's excellent singing of some French songs. The Radio Workshop had a good year and so did the children in the local hospitals, receiving 325 dolls from the girls of R.H.S. Our ster- ling athletes got a Hnancial boost from the showing of a Hlm in the hall, the proceeds of which went into the athletic fund. The receivers of the Samuel Gross Davis awards that year were MARTIN BR.-XDBKRY. PAI'L REILLY, HELEN HERNIANN, and DOROTHY ALRER. And, as usual, the inevitable Prize Drill was rained into the gym. Junior year brought with it the usual problems and the hard-won joys. VVe very much missed hllss IDONAHOIC and Miss SIiLLIvAN, who, during our second year, conscientously devoted their energies and their bank accounts to study and travel. Replacing them were MR. CONROY, and MRS. ROWELL. That same year MR. WILLIAM O'CoxNoR left to become Vocational Guidance Counsellor at Roxbury Memorial for Boys. His loss was eased by MR. t'HARLEs IiANER'S return from Jamaica Plain High to serve as head of Roslindale's Business Department. The 1953 Christmas Assembly was, as usual, capably handled, and heartily enjoyed by all. Have you ever wondered how Miss REID, Miss IQANE, Miss NVHELAN. and Miss STAVRINOS do it? lVell, here we were in January . . . right in the middle of the eighth annual induction of the Roslyn Chapter of the National Honor Society. Vtle watched with great pride as the following 19 1118111- bers of our class received their pins: RIIRIAM AFrsA, CAROL BADER, VITA BARRY, SHIRLEY BRAUNEIS, STEPHEN BRENXER, THoMAs CAVANAYGH, DIAN DINAPOLI. RIALTREEN DRISCOLL, NANCY EDENBORG, JOAN LANDRY, DAPIINE LILAKOS, RIARIE PAQLTET, SANDRA PETERSON, PAI'L REILLY, VERNA SHAHEEN, GERALD- INE SILVICSTRI, CAROL SOLARI, PATRICIA SOI'cARAs and JEAN VAN LEEL'wEN. In April the Roslyn Chapter presented a film entitled UI Beheld His Glory . NVe Inight add the society collected many pesos for its scholarship fund. JEwEL SBIPIR.-HIFI, for the second year, won the Carruther's reading prize, and THOMAS CAVAN- AI'rsH was the worthy recipient of the Harvard Book Award, given annually to the outstandingjunior boy. YI-IRNA SHAHI-.EN, RIIRIAM MYYAND, THOMAS CAvAxAI'oH, and RALPH GARLICK were the winners of the Samuel Gross Davis Award of S510 for courtesy and good Inanners. Our harried lunchroom aides, who each day honestly earned their hot lunches, included JEAN ANDERSON. DOROTHY ALKER, REGINA CLARK, RlARY AD.-ms, CECILE AI'cLAIR, LORRAINE HOIRIHAN. RITA FEIL, and JOAN CAMERON. The year came to a close with history-Inaking elections for class officers. For weeks before the momentous occasion attractive and original posters adorned the cold brick walls of the corridors and hung from the even colder ceiling of the lunchroom. Well, election day finally arrived, and We waited with bated breath and chewed fingernails till the results were announced. We found our new class officers to be JAMEs LARKIN, president, RIIRIAM AVYAND, vice-president, CAROL HOLMES, secretary: and NANCY ICDENBORG, treasurer. Returning to Roslindale High as real old seniors, we found that a wide gap had been made in the teaching ranks by the death of MR. FREDERICK MI'RRAY. His place was filled by MR. WALSH, who unfortunately fell ill after 2 months. His position was taken for a while by MR. ALLEN. We Wel- comed MR. fiR.-XSS!! as the first graduate of R.H.S. to return as a permanent member of the faculty. Another change was the arrival of Mas. RIANNIX, who replaced MR. FRANCIS OJBRIEN, who had left us for an appointment as head of the business department at South Boston High. In September We saw our mighty journal, the Tfztfler. under PATRICIA SOI'eARAs, get down to business. And with HELEN HERMANN cracking the whip as chairman, the Transcript Staff filled their fountain pens at the Post Uttice and started to work. The newly-elected senior councillors, under the supervision of Miss IQICLLEY and Miss RI-LILLY, started assisting the class officers. As time catches up with us and the memories become clearer, you probably will remember the day when we discovered Whether or not we could read. That traditional Achievement Test is thought of kindly by the student body, not because it meant a chance to show our stuff, but because of the 10:30 dismissal, for us, that is! Our beloved instructors had to stay the rest of the day to mark our pitiful efforts. Before we knew it, the football team was at Healy Field practicing for the coming battles. While not victorious in all their games, they were spurred on by the enlivening support of our cheer- leaders under the able leadership of NANCY CLEARY. Many of the Rosiettes were seen in the plate glass schoolroom of Filene's window during Na- tional Education Week, and shortly after this JosRP1e1 DoLLi:v was elected to the General Court to replace MR. OlLOI'GHLIN on Good Government Day, March 11. During the Christmas season we welcomed into our hall the Bell Telephone Co. These good people, in a frantic effort to save them- selves many dimes, and us many wrong numbers, tried to teach us the difference between the letter O and the number zero. In keeping with the annual tradition at Rl-IJS., the girls distributed through the Red Cross a total of 300 dolls and with the help of Miss GORDON sent many gifts to the Children's Hospital. We also enjoyed an inspired Christmas Assembly. Congratulations were in order for our Track Team which did exceptionally well, winning the dis- trict championship for the 2nd time in the history of the school. And who can forge-t the state of near hysteria as our action packed hoopsters bounced to the semi-finals at the Boston Gardens. You remember also the Friday line-up to see Miss CASEY, and the Tuesday and Wednesday meetings with MR. TAYLOR for advice on thc future, which suddenly looms so very close. This year's Roslyn Chapter Inducition Exercises on January 27 ushered in 3 new senior members: CAROL Bi-3RNARno, DIANA BISTANY, and NANCY IXIORRIS. The iuonth of March was spent in getting ready for the Prom. It was held on the 18th of April in '55 and all of us here are still alive and can remember the sparkling affair held at the Dorothy Quincy Suite of the John Hancock building. Incidently Paul Revere never did show up, did he? But who caresg we were there. IVell, now that we have spent the month of May recovering from the Prom, we finally arrive 'here at Class Day-a day of recollection and, we hope, a happy one. The prospect of graduation fills us with gratefulness for the past. Then, too, we feel an odd mixture of trepidation and courage for the future, which is drawing nearer and nearer. Also drawing near is the conclusion of this docu- ment, THR Hisroiiv or THR CLAss OF '55. CAROL BERNARDO BRUCE McNEILL VITA BARRY GZQMWJZZ... BRI'eE iXlt'Nl4IlIIII leaves his miniature camera for a future photographer to catch people off guard. JOAN SXVAFIVORIJ leaves a goldfish to a daring sport. BARBARA TI'I'I's and ANN SULLIVAN leave for Las Vegas, having perfected in science class a new system for winning at the sporting game of cards. SARA MeNEEsE leaves her history outlines to be raffied off to the clamoring sophomores later. KENNETH HARNEX' leaves a stock of Inedical supplies complete with rubbing alcohol, Sloan's liniment, crutches, plaster cast, and band-aids. CAROLE BERNARDO leaves her wardrobe to be divided among the envious female counterpart of the Faculty. THOMAS IXIEALY leaves the lunchroom staff wondering where all their precious Hoodsie spoons went. PAT BIACIDERMOTT leaves, making an awful noise saying, Come on, Nancy. IMIARIE NATALE leaves with a newly purchased pair of cast iron shoelaees which cannot be removed from her shoes, because the old pairs seemed always to disappear before her gym classes started. RICHARD CRANsHAW leaves complete with shotgun and bean blower for the great outdoors, answering the 'fCall of the Wild. Moose or deer? IXIARIE PAQUET leaves French 4 floored by her demonstration of a pas de chat, entrechat, arabesque, and pirouctte, which leaves as with a coup de grace. CAROLE PFEIFFER leaves with a hearty Hy-ooo Silver? as she gallops off on her trusty stallion. HLIGH HYNEs leaves shouting Semper Fidelis , which translated means, What have I got this uni- form on for? I should be home in bedf' IDAVVN-BIARIE IXICNEIL leaves her typewriter, although we don't see how she can bear to. CHARLENE SVVEENEY leaves a pair of ballet slippers, her beautiful, long, auburn, hair, and her recently published pamphlet entitled H101 Different NVays to Go from 325 to Room llf' HARRY BURNS leaves to this tune: Murphy had a little boy, Harry says he's gone for good, His name was Harry Burns. But Murph hopes he returns. GERALDINE TWITCHELL leaves the painting with which she won the Rossie Art Contest. The prize? An all-expense-paid trip to Soutfh Boston. JEWEL SMERAGE leaves to buy a baby grand piano for her pocket book so she can play spot requests. RICHARD t'Bennett DONAHUE leaves, wondering Why in heaven's name Hollywood has not snatched him up as yet, but while he is waiting, he goes on writing his famous book t'The Magnificent Complexion or Care of the Skin with Brillo . Now, as we leave, slowly walking down the marbled corridors, through the six sets of doors, under the supervision of the familiar teachers, we suddenly realize that our life at Roslindale High is about to end and a tear be-dims our loving eyes, as it were, but not to the extent that we fail to see the front door through which, having thus disposed of our Estate, we shall leave . . . alas too soon . . . WHAT ARE WE SAYING!! JOAN COULLAHAN MIRIAM WYAND JOHN MAHONEY Glaaap 'WVe would have you join us at a little gathering after the Commencement Exercises at the Uni- versity of Advanced Learning in a very advanced year, to hear the accounts, and perhaps some of the gossip, of the Commencement Week, as reported to me, J. G. COLPITTS, the president of the Uni- versity, of course. These reports will be made by three of my colleagues, whom I am now most pleased to present to you:-The Dean of Women-Miss PATRICIA SoL'eARAs, The Dean of Men-Mr. THOMAS CAvANAI'oH, and The Dean of our Dramatic School-Miss IIELEN tWhere are your shoes?J HERNIANN. Come, friends, be seated. Miss S., What's new? Well, I think it's just a shame t-hat Professors GARLICK and IXICINEESE would not stop their rivalry in the History Department long enough to go to Commencement. Prof. LIZ SWEENEY dropped Modern Languages to join Prof. ELAINE BENSON of Ancient Languages, and they went. Of course, the Dean of Discipline, CAROL BAUER, could have handled the situation, in a way, but she was busy helping ARLINE CAMPBELL, the Drill Instructor, give the Band a workout. BETTY DONAHUE of the Pep Squad and RONA AVALLONE of the Physical Education Department were on hand to revive any Band members who fainted by the wayside. I hear tell that there was quite a casualty list- players like ROBERT AHEARN, RICHARD BRENNAN, DUNALIJ IIAVANAVGH, and GEORGE Fox collapsed completely. Seine of the Inore serious cases have been sent to the Inhrmary. There are those who say that their condition was made worse by the ambulance driver, ROBERT IQEENAN, but have no fear. All are under the care of our excellent staff. CAROL DINIOLTK, JOAN COULLAHAN, NANCY GAVIN, and PRIsC1LLA T1uHE. The most difficult patient is requiring 24-hour duty from special nurses, IXIARGARET ANDERSON and JOAN CAMERON. He is our Publicity Man, IEENNETH HARNEY, who unfor- tunately got in the way of the bass drum player, ROBERT IJATI-IO, and sustained another broken bone, the mandiblc tflower jaw, to youl. Now he's using sign language and smoke signals to demand the services of bone specialist, DR. STEPHEN BRENNER. You knew, of course, that the doctor went to the Ineeting of the American Medical Association to hear that famous bio-chemist JOAN LANDRY read her paper on The Medical Uses of Cryptogamous Plants. Brilliant! I suppose you knew, too, that JOAN flew all the way from the NANCY IXIORRIS Missions in Africa to attend this Ineeting. Returning on the plane with her were some well-known world travellers, such as VINCENT Bl.-XRINO, who has been abroad getting Inaterial for his new fall line called Styles of the Sahara Shit-ks. There is plenty to keep his head designer, NANCY CLEARY, busy. Also on the plane were BIARY ADAMS and NIN1 iX Zizzo, those expert representatives of the LILLIAN CAsHMAN A-Z Travel Service. LIL is coining cash in that business, she even has her own agents at strategic points. For example, GERALDINE TWITCHELL is in charge of the London office, DoT TAI'BE bosses the Bermuda branch, and once a week HERB SAKRISON stops fishing long enough to show up at the office at Gander Newfoundland. lt was rumored that all was not well on the flight from Africa, because the co-pilot, PAUL Skippy CAMIVANA, had skipped putting in enough gas. It seems he had been winking over his shoulder again, this time at the two careful hostesses on duty, DORIS COLEBOURNE and l.hIARY ANN HLETHER. Panic was averted by -the careful work of air-Inechanic, RUNCI, and the re-assuring presence of the head hostess JOANNE PowER, so that by the time the plane reached New York, LIL7S receptionist there, GERTRVDE MI'LLEN, found everyone Inost comfortable. Some of the ladies, feeling a bit frazzled, stopped to have their hair done at FAITH FINN,S Salon, where BIARY TIIATCHER is the Hair Stylist and JI.'D1TH SLACK is the head operator. Much restored, the gals went on to the A.M.A. Meeting, which was presided over by that new light in the medical field, DR. GRAt'l4I DIBELLIs. She revealed that .JANET and BEVERLY SMITH have had complete success with their new cough drop, thus upsetting the plans of their rivals in the field, GORDON and WILLIAM SMITH. However, any injured feelings were soothed by -the excellent refreslnnents prepared by the PAT ZIRILLI Catering Service. A complete record of the proceedings was kept by the secretary for the association, BARBARA MAeNI'soN, and her staff members, CECILE AI'eLAIR, SHIRLEY BRAI'NIs, and RITA FEILQ but what they don't know is what happened to some poor souls on their way home. I heard that some delegates chose to return by car, and on the way encountered JOHN ITARAFOTIAS, newest jet-propelled hot rod being piloted by JACK BJAHONEY, who bombed everyone else oli the road. PECI ITELLEY, JOAN LANG, and ELIZABETH GENTILE are going to sue, even though ear-shy BRUCE BICNEILL zoomed in hot pursuit in his newest foreign job 'The Flying W'oInbat.' Big JOHN COLEMAN of the F.B.l. is working oII the case, but he is being held up because JOE CATALDO of the local police is still at home, for some reason. The girls say they'll wait till they get here to bring the case to court because ITARAFOTIAS used our labs to invent his Inachine. Say, Pres. do you suppose they'll sue IIs.'! Uh Heavens, NO! l'll have to call the university detective, R. B. DONAHUE, to investigate for facts. I simply cannot go through another court case. You know perfectly well the dreadful time we had on the case of JoHN Crsick and JOHN PowER. Mr. C. was accused of stealing . . . STRAWSl He took four, instead of twog and if that wasn't bad enough, his confederate, POWER stole . . . WOODEN SPOONS! Their defense attorneys BENNINIIHOE, BEcRs'rRoM, and BERNAZZINI are now grey old men, worn to the nub in their efforts to convince the Judge, BIIRIAM AFFSA. Things were not helped by the plaintiff, MR. WILLIAM BRADY, who kept misplacing his glasses, and so could not see very well, but his counsel, ERNEs'r BIESSINA, is to be praised for his skillful questioning of the witnesses to the case, ALKER, AxDERsoN, HARDY and HOURIHAN fDOROTHY, JANE, BI-:TTY and LoRRAINE.l lt was interesting to note that the questioning was studied daily by a famous visiting member of the bar, DANIEL J. SULLIVAN, and also, of course, by the members of the jury, led by that Queen of Quandary, TXIARION XVEBSTER, who, as Forewoman, gave the clear-cut verdict, 'Ah . . . well . . . uh . . . hmmm . . . now let's see. Guilty-not guilty?!' In all this, she was assisted by DoRoTHY RI l'LEDl2E, l'1lLAINE HowE, and BEVERLY SHRLHAN, who, among others, were on the jury. A full account of this case, written by those superb rfortune with his new 'guided missile' basketbal l. He's still not sure whether to call it 'Falcon Jrfpraetice for the hurdles! Now, there is a fine paper, run by the ever-quiet and efficient VITA BARRY, who has built up a good staff. BARBARA UCHS, whose 1llOllO is 'Hear all, Print all, Say nothing!', gets daily items from such news hounds as ITATIIICRINE IQENNEDY and CAROL LA PLANTE, and no paper has a finer fashion editor than our CAROL BERNARDO. The heavy, detailed office work is always well handled 'by the Four tus-fl0LI.INS, CoNNoRs, CORSO, and Cox fCA'1'H., BIARY, 'ToN1, and JUDYJ -while CAROLE lJUYLl5 and l'lLlZ XBICTH F.-XIRWEATHER set up the editions. Each edition is a masterpiece of printing. How could it be otherwise with DAWN AICNEIL and CAROLE PEEIFI-'ER merrily typing away on the niamnioth linotype machines. How those girls love their work! They tell me there is a nice, quiet fellow who strolls in about once a month, whispers that he'd like to do the 1HOSb he could to help, smiles shyly, and strolls out. They think his name is LARKIN and that he's connected with sports, but I Inust confess I don't know, for I don't get. Inuch of a chance to follow the Sports news in our Press, What's new there, CAv.. f Plenty, Pres. ln honor of Commencement lVeek, we have had a big time at the Oatmeal Bowl. There was a colossal struggle when Coach ToM-The Mighty lhll.ll'1l1Lll'-BJCQUEENEY and his team the flotliam Goats met. the Valiant Varmints coached by JOE-Volcano-VEY. All this was ar- ranged by the National Head of Rotary and our Athletic Manager, HUGH HYNEs. He and JERRY 7 H WILD set up a whole series of games with the conference teams through their chairmen, JOSEPH SI'I.LIvAN and RAY RINN. p Things have really been popping in the Basket tBowl.' Coach BI'cKY CARLEZON is making a fortune with his new guided missileu basket ball. Hes still not sure whether to call it Falcon Jr.' or 'The Teaser , because it can go around the top of a basket five times before it goes through. Mc1iARRAII. ihlCLA1'1i1-ILIN, and SOHNIIDT are marketing BI'cR's ball throughout the country. GERRY BALL, the Ad-man, and his chief promoter, BREMS, have devised a nice bit of sales promotion for the boys. If the ball circles the basket only once, they get 351, twice-32, and so on. The more it teases, the more it pays, and it must be making money for us because I hear Treasurer NANCX' EDEN- BOR11 counting money like mad. I suppose you missed the writeup on the XVooden Bowl, our new indoor Track. Wonderful thing . . . no swinging doors, no nice soft stone fioors or brick walls, no jay-walkers who, with curious stares, so admire our nifty grey track suits or our super-nifty physiques. It makes no difference to us how we look, because we are still right up there on top with such stars as SECORD, BRENNAN, and FINNERAN, and I try to keep in trim by leaping away from all paper work whenever I can. Excellent practice for the hurdles. In the Base 'Bowl' things have really hummed. Everyone knows, of course, that JOE LDITTO, DOLLEY has done it again as a 20-game winner, and that he continues to mow down the opposition in the tradition of Bob Lemon. DICIQ CRANsHAW and ERNIE DIETTRICII have long since replaced Mel Allen and Curt Gowdy. t'Therc's an idea, Pres.l No need to read any more-hasn't been for years. Simply by listen- ing to CRANSHAXV and DIETTRICTH. you could keep up with the Sports, as you should, because the income from the Bowls is essential to the University. W'e can't make anywhere near as much money on a play. Do you think so, Dean HERNIANNW' You and your Bowls! You don't know the half of it. Have you heard what happened at the Club Finger Bowl after Commencement? Our show was a smash hit, thanks to the brilliant direction of fiEOR11E AJOCNH, and his music assistants, JEVVEL HNIERAQIE, PAUL REILLY, and ROBERT LAHAISE, and to that terrific combo, NORNIA CIAVATTONE, ELAINE CHIsHoLN1, VIRGINIA BARRY, and CHARLOTTE HowARD. Did you see all our ex-students in the audience? There was a delegation from Boston, and while I was peeking through that hole in the curtain, I recognized BIARILYN DONAHLTE, CTENEVIEVE DONNELLY, IXTARIE Down, IXTYRNA EASA. JANET E11.'H'WALD, ANNE FOSTER, and PADDI GENZ. They all carrie backstage and were raving about the beautiful costumes that our wonderful wardrobe mistress, ANNE LONIBARD, made for the usherettes, DOROTHY 1JlHE.ARN, CAROL AXT, ANN BRODERICK. NANCY CoLfLoI'RIs, and JANICE HIICLHES. They really looked lovelyl 'AM-'T' After our show, the Club put on its own marvelous floor show. The new skating team of BAR- BARA ADER and JOANNE WHITE are really going places. The corps de ballet was greatly assisted by the inspired dancing of JOAN GENDREAU, PAT BIACYARISH, WIARIE PAQKET, and ROBERTA DIOKIE. H-JAMES HOOLEH', LEN ITELLEY, DONALD BICAVLEY and JOHN IXIEADE brought the house down with their barbershop rendition of 'Light the Lamp in the Window, Mother. I'm Coming Home To- nightl' This was followed by some music from the distaff side. DIAN DINAPOLI and MARIE GALVIN sang several duets which were followed by some lovely German songs by TXIAIA ITALNINS. JOAN BRYAN and JOYCE CANIERLENOO sang tFriendship', to the great pleasure of some visiting celebrities, including JOAN PETERSON, the well-known beauty contest winner, ANNE SULLIVAN, international ambassadress of goodwill, and BIIRIAM AVYAND, who had just returned from her third trip around the world. As we left we could hear the happy, carefree, and I fear possibly bibulous singing of tShoW Me the W'ay to Go Home,' and high time too, for it was dawn, the commencement of the last day of our Commencement Week. Rather an Odd word, don't you think so, Pres? Yes, and a nice one, too, for such times as these especially. For they are not 'Ends' at all, are they? We, who have seen so many, know that they are indeed Commencements, leading to Futures no one can properly Prophesy, because it- is up to each one to make his own Way, as so many have done so well before him.
