were so impatient that when the opportunity to go to college came they hastened oft. But this was not alll Some fiend had devised the torture of physical education every day to make us supermen and superwomen. XYe did not waver. although the effort to keep hidden our canes and crutches was almost as great as keeping our labored breathing and creaking bones unheard. Time has flown, and now we leave the school which has been like a second home for three short years. no longer ignorant sophomores. conceited juniors. but scholarly young men and women, who. having come through three years of laborious work. endured great torture, physical and mental. go forth into a war-torn world to conquer all that stands in our way. with the same unflinching strength that brought us through this. our senior year. Un their first leave they came hurrying hack to their old haunts outside their favorite teachers' doors. just to see the teachers and their former classmates, never once thinking. of course. of the good looking uniforrns or the heautiful polish they had on their new shoes. nor the admiring glances east in their direction hy the girls. The distress of us devotees of Xlinerva at the nurnerous holidays and half-holidays was so great that the idea of giving up vacations was greeted with wild shouts of joy. XVe, the class of 1943. about to celebrate the seventh Anniversary' of Roslindale Hiffh School bv relievinff said institution of our presence. and being D . U sound in mind and bodv bv virtue of three years' attendance at said institution. do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament -the latter being a disposal. out of the generosity of our hearts, of all our most valuable possessions, movable and immovable. To Mr. XVarren we bequeath our gratitude for his kindness. tolerance. and guidance. Filled with his inspiring teachings, we leave less afraid to face life's uncertainties. To the faculty as a whole. our guides through the labyrinth of education. we leave our appreciation of their endeavors to make of us educated men and women. To Miss Connor we leave a French class which won't think that Robespierre is Baby Snooks' brother. To Mary Flahertys, or Betty Minkles. Miss Cogan we leave a senior gvm class without any Mary Gavins, To Miss Harrington we leave an entire class that can read, write, and speak English. L To Mr. Gleason we leave a streamlined weathervane that he can see from 209. To Miss Dalv we leave a permanent setting-up drill leader. To Miss Martell we leave a sign language to be used by her pupils in the oral quizzes when their power of speech fails. To Miss Flannellv we leave an embroidered lasso to be used for catching and holding on to members of the Year Book Committee. To Mr. O'Brien we leave the management of all future proms. To Miss Rosemary Reilly we leave an uninterrupted Current Events class. To Mr. Landrigan we leave a schedule of the lVest Roxbury buses. or still better. a B sticker. To Miss Rice we leave memoirs of write Latin verse to their teacher. To up the things he leaves behind him.
