IHHSS HISWHY Remember the herd of unsophisticated sophomores who. on a fateful day in September. 19239. stormed the gates of Hoslindale High in their eagerness for knowledge? XVith the exception of a few casualties scalped by marauding school teachers. those same people are present here and now. Believe it or not. those grave and reverend sages sitting around you. were once sophomores. It's been a fascinating transition. this change from ignorance to bliss in three years. It all started when having crashed the gates of the brain factory. we were surrounded and coralled in our hoinerooms by certain sinister individuals whom we discovered to be teachers. As. battered and bent. we left school that day. we discovered that by some strange means we had acquired a bushel or two of books. Now the plot thickens. XVe also found ourselves bur- dened with devices of mental cruelty called home lessonsv. The teachers were behind it all. as any detective story fan could tell. From day to day. this went on until there burst upon us another phe- nomenon known as a test . For the eighty per cent who did not commit suicide. school held no more terrors. lThat's what they thought.l So passed our sophomore year. Then. as juniors. we had some one to patronize. The sophomores could tell you whether or not we made the most of this opportunity. Thus we spent our junior year. happilv buried in advanced algebra. Cicero. shorthand hieroglyphics. or what have you. 'lilll' big event of our junior year was the election oi ofiicers. You see before you the worn and venerable faces of the vietors in the fray. The gray hairs were caused by worry over the two or three iunongst us who did not get on the honor roll. Illlifl' sl.i'lw'1i wuzne au! wntglif whim i no l TELL.. more. Donald Davidson NYilliam Xlcliav, Clreta Garbo. Christine Picozzi. and Jean Chamberlain. Since nothing but the best would possiblv do. we were not surprised on opening night to see so manv of our chums on the stage. We regret to sav. however. that on account of the jealousv ot the Hollvwood professionals. our stars received no Oscars. And who will ever forget that great Shakespearian tragedy i 'N XYild Nell . XYe have among us two distinguished essavists. Christine Picozzi. and Donna Nolan. who won top honors in the Brook Farm Essav Contest. A desire for the best thoughts of the best minds of the age has brought our great periodical. T110 Tzltfler. into all the homes of the country. Un the evening of Februarv 25th, our crop of the social elite blossomed forth in tuxedos. gowns. and dancing shoes. Once more the ballroom of Louis XIV echoed to the strains of the statelv minuet. 101' was that what it was called?D The handsome beaux were those weird looking individuals who slink through the halls of Rossie with lemon and lavender checked socks. and red shirts whose graceful tails save the janitor from sweeping the Hoors. The beautiful. but not dumb belles looked positivelv ravishing in their Paris creations. Since November there has been a big boom in the camera industrv since Rossie seniors have been smiling at the birdie. Some of the final results were most grati- tving to our photogenic Tvrone Powers and Hedv Lamarrs. Some of the other proofs resembled Boris Karloff or Donald Duck. but thev were all good likenesses.
