HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF I966 Once again the time has come for another senior class to step out of the halls of Rosholt High School and begin the journey into the future. Now that we are leaving, we recall a period four years ago when, with some fear but many high hopes, we first walked down the now well-known corridors. We began our four-year walk toward graduation with an enrollment of sixty-three. We chose the following as freshmanlclass officers: President, Mary Schulistg Vice-President, Rose Szalewskig Secre- tary, Darlene Kluckg and Treasurer, Bruce Windorski. Sharon Selmer and Carl Acken represented us on the student council. We chose a happy Diane Hintz as our carnival queen candidate and took a first with our freshman float entitled Harvest Time. Our class advisors were Mrs. Nelson and Mr. Porter. The year passed very quickly and before we knew it, we were Sophomores. Being greenhorns no longer, we came back to school with new confidence, but our enrollment had gone down to fifty-eight. Our class advisors this year were Mrs. Rosholt and Mr. Shafranski. Sharon Selmer served as Class Presidentglliari Lynn Stoltenberg, Vice-Presidentg Mary Schulist, Secretaryg and Vaneese Stahl, Treasurer. Rose Szalewski and Darlene Kluck were our hard-working Student Council representatives. It proved to be a big year for Rosie as she was also our carnival queen candidate. Kari Lynn Stoltenberg brought honor to our class by representating us at the State speech contest. The third giant step toward graduation, our Junior year, came and went very quickly. lt seemed to be challenging from the beginning as we chose the following class officers: President, Darlene Kluckg Vice-President, Roger Krogwoldg Secretary, Dorothy Kropidlowskig and Treasurer, Kari Lynn Stoltenberg. Our Student Council members were Rose Szalewski and Carl Acken. The faculty members who advised us were Mrs. Hanson, Mr. Abrahamson, Mr. Oestreich, and Mr. Porter. We were victori- ous at the carnival with a winning float. Annette C-lodowski was our carnival queen candidate. Springtime brought the Junior Prom with our chosen theme Moonlight and Roses. John Carter reigned as King and 'chose Darlene Kluck as his queen. Kari Lynn Stoltenberg and Rose Szalewski reached State competition in forensics in Interpretative Reading of Prose and each brought back a coveted A . Sharon Selmer represented us at the State music contest with a vocal solo. We were also proud that the Junior boys were becoming very active in athletics. Carl Acken, John Carter and Sharon Selmer were honored by being chosen to attend Badger Boys' and Girls' State the following summer. We had finally reached that bend in the road beyond which graduation waited. Our Senior year began somewhat solemnly because we had lost Carl Acken, who died of a brief illness during the sum- mer. We will miss him always. Being confident of making this our best year possible, we chose Kari Lynn as Class Presidentg John Carter, Vice-Presidentg Rose Szalewski, Secretaryg and Judy Haroldson, Treasurer. Joanne Brze- zinski, Elsie Bronk, and Roger Krogwold were chosen for Student Council with Roger as Student Council President. Vaneese Stahl made a very charming carnival queen candidate. Rose Szalewski and Darlene Kluck represented us again as enthusiastic cheerleaders. Mr. Hanna was our Class Advisor. What with meeting deadlines for this our Hornet and ordering announcements, we hardly realized that our en- rollment had dropped to forty-seven. Now that we have reached that bend in the road beyond which is graduation, we hope that each of us has left a footprint by which we may be remembered.
