The Seniors are dreaming of the opportunities that will be avail- able in the future beyond these doors. This alone challenges us to set our goals high, grasp opportunity, give service, and face life with hearts filled with courage and hope. Foreword Dedication We, the members of the Rosette Staff of 1961, wish to dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Blanche Mace to thank her for the counsel and guidance she has given us in high school. For the past nine years she has unflinchingly taken all of the extra duties that come with being a Senior advisor and an energetic school worker. In this last year of preparation for the Seniors she has served as an inspiration and leader untiringly and gracefully. Thank you, Mrs. Mace............ All through our four years of high school, we have participated both in scholastic and extra-curricular activities extensively. We haven't always been self-confident, assured students though, for, in the fall of '57, there came to Roseville High School's doors 104 scared students. But as we roamed the halls looking for our rooms, we grew a little more confident that the upperclassmen and teachers would not eat us. After a couple of weeks, you wouldn't have believed we were the same students, for with Mrs. Donahoe, Mrs. Patterson, Mr. Taylor, and Mr. Carnes to help us along, we soon grew out of our temporary shyness. We elected for our Freshman officers: President, Miles Payton; Vice-President, Sharon Auer; Treasurer, David Yeager; and Secretary, Karen Duff. We chose as our class colors, black and white. Our cheerleader which we chose was Nancy Brooks, and our homecoming attendant was Sharon Auer, who had as her escort. Bill Kuhn. Our class was so well represented in all of the activities, that it would be unfair to mention only a few and would take too long to name them. We also had a long list of Freshmen on the Honor Roll each six weeks. One of the highlights of this year, was our party held at the children's home in Avondale. There were very few of us who did not attend this affair. It seemed that none of us really wanted to leave at the end of the year, for we knew some of us would not be there the next year, but we were all happy at the prospect of being Sophomores. So ended our first great adventure in the high school world. We entered our Sophomore year with about 70 members of our class returning, for, as we had thought, many of our dearest and closest friends had not returned. But, despite this we were ready to face up to the great responsibility of being Sophomores, for we had the privilege of having our homeroom in the library with all the class together. Even though they separated us later, we kept the same wonderful advisers; Mrs. Matthews, Mr. Curl, and Mrs. Donahoe for the first semester, but in our second semester, Mr. Cox was assigned Mrs. Donahoe's classes, as she took over super- vision of our cafeterias. This year our officers consisted of: Kay Kinnan, President; Kay Pletcher, Vice-President; and Nancy Daniel, Treasurer. We chose Odette Folden for our cheerleader and homecoming attendant. Her escort was Bill Kuhn. The most exciting day for most of us, was when we were measured for our class rings. If you happened to be in Roseville High School that day, you could tell very easily which students were the Sophomores, all you had to do was look for the shining eyes and smiling faces. But the year was quickly over, and vacation time was upon us again. It seemed we could hardly wait to get back and be Juniors! During the summer, we again lost some of our classmates and we returned with about 65 members. Mr. Dantonio, Mr. DeVore, and Mr. Crady advised us through this year, and helped us solve many of our problems. We elected David Yeager, President; Sharon Auer, Vice-President; Odette Folden, Secretary; and Christy Jaynes, Treasurer. Our home- coming attendant this year was Joan Dalrymple. She was escorted by Charles Williamson and Jon Fauley drove for her. We had six of our class chosen for the Lola Clark Chapter of the National Honor Society this year. They were: Odette Folden, Rose Polen, Charles Williamson, Jerry Sutherland, Donna Reed, Bob Dozer, and Barbara Stigler. About a month after school had started, there were a group of students who kept flashing rings around. These were the full-fledged Juniors, for they had just received their class rings. We had the great honor this year of having a classmate of ours, Nancy Daniel, who went to national regional com- petition in the national cherry pie baking contest. She gained the titles of; National Regional Cherry Pie Baking Cham- pion, Ohio State Cherry Pie Baking Champion, Sectional Cherry Pie Baking Champion, Muskingum County Cherry Pie Baking Champion, and Roseville High School Cherry Pie Baking Champion. Our class was very busy that first semester, selling magazines and putting on our Junior Variety Show. The second semester we presented our Junior Class Play, Beanes for Breakfast. During this year, we also sold our football and basketball pencils. One of our most enjoyable activities was getting ready for the Junior-Senior Prom. Everyone in our class partic- ipated in this project, for we wanted it to be the best that was ever put on at Roseville. At the Senior and Junior as- semblies that year, you could have seen many sentimental tears shed among the Juniors, for many of them realized that, just as the Seniors of '60 were getting ready to leave then, we would be doing the same in only one year. We started off this, our last year of school, with 63 members having the able assistance of Mrs. Mace and Mr. Dye. The class officers we elected are: Miles Payton, President; Odette Folden, Vice-President; Christy Jaynes, Treasurer; and Connie Hoodlet, Secretary. Our classmate, Virginia Corbin, was chosen as queen this year, and her Senior attend- ant was Kay Kinnan. Their escorts and drivers were; Bill Kuhn, Delbert Heim, Jon Fauley, and Lynn Crane. We spon- sored the homecoming dance after the game. Our big project for making money towards our class trip this year, was selling Christmas cards and candy. All of us participated in this project and now we are looking forward to our taking the trip and putting on our class play. These will conclude our four years at Roseville. Now, we are approaching the great day, when we, the class of '61, will leave the corridors of Roseville, never to return as students again. We have had many good times and Roseville High School has given us many happy memories which we shall cherish always. Years from now, we shall look back upon these years, as the happiest of our life. I, Sharon Auer, will Ginny Snell, something to keep her busy in government next year. I, Odette Folden, will our wonderful cheering section to Pam and Susie and next year's cheerleader and hope they take good care of it. I, Jerry Marks, will Rick Wilson a nose plug to keep his nose up off the football field. I, Bob Snyder, will to Roseville High School one or two new teachers, for the following students, maybe they will learn something. I, Kay Henry, will my friendliness with Mr. DeVore to the remaining students at RHS. I, Bob Williams, will my French book to Mrs. Mace. I, Paul Williams, will RHS happiness in the future years by not being here. 30 Class Prophecy The year 1984, the place, Fauley Ransbottom syndicated laboratory researchers, their motto, If it hasn't been invented, we'll invent it, if it has been invented, we'll steal it. The world is hailing them for their latest invention a time fluid. This fantastic substance enables a person to place a drop on a date, place and event and the piece of paper will illuminate like a TV screen showing the information asked. We now happen in on them as they are about to demonstrate their new invention. Weil Jon, here we go, we've written the date 1965 on the paper, there is the illumination. Hey, what have we got here, it's Winnomac's psychology class, the top psychology college in the nation , here we see several of our former classmates at a table in serious discussion - there is Joan Dalrymple, who in the summer drives in the motorcycle races. She is doing this to pay her way through college. She, Leah Bussey, an amateur lion tamer, and Bob Williams are holding a heated discussion in which everyone seems agreed except one person who is tak- ing the negative point of the argument to the fullest, why it's our own Charley Williamson. This is a big day at Winnomac for it's homecoming and crowning the homecoming queen Christy Jaynes is Miles Crazy Legs Payton, a four-year All-American end, congratulations Freddie. O.K. Richie, let's move up five more years, there's the illumination here we are at glamorous Hollywood for a movie premiere where all of the big name stars are coming. Hey, there's Beth Hendrickson and Delbert Heim stars of the situation comedy Facts of Life. They are followed by another familiar face it's, Paul Williams. Why I wonder if he is a star too. No, I guess not, he is an usher. He is ushering in Lynn Crane, Darrell Bird, and Jerry Marks who are going to star on Shirley Temple's show which is doing that favorite children's classic LITTLE MEN. Looking across to Los Angeles Coliseum there is a ball game in progress. Pitching is the veteran fire-baller of the league the past ten years in wild pitches, walks, balks, and hit batsmen. The umpire is quite perturbed at ole Sore-arm and is ejecting him from the game, why that umpire is none other than Kay Kinnan. From the stands comes that familiar call of peanuts, popcorn, and ice cream bars: yelling these calls are Ronnie Reed and Sam Strickler who have unionized the vendors all over the United States-sort of the Al Capones of the popcorn vendors. Five years onward we see visions of a Dude ranch of that famous western star Quick Draw Musser and his gang of merry gals: Sue Ditter, Linda Eppley, and Betty Henry. Coming in off the desert is a riderless horse, but no, it's Carl McLaughlin with his foot caught in the right stirrup. You mount 'em from the left Carl. We now focus in on the Dude Ranch Restaurant where a mad patron is complaining about the food, it's none other than Bill Kuhn who is complaining to the waitress Roseanne Reed. Bill says that the buffalo steaks were fine but they forgot to take the stickers out of his cactus salad. This enrages the cook. Chef Boy ar Dickerson, really our schoolmate Art who picked up the art of French cooking while serving in the French Foreign Legion. Back out on the desert we see Sharon Hill Moore who is picking desert flowers for her husband. She is also look- ing at the beautiful desert birds, buzzards, eagles, etc. When over the horizon appears a white Falcon coming about 98 m.p.h. In this Falcon is none other than Greg Garrett who is running a desert taxi service. Five years onward we illuminate into New York where Betty Crocker is stepping down from the position of America's cook. Taking her place is none other than our own Nancy Daniel Holdcroft. Keep baking those cherry pies Nancy. Tonight everyone is mad for all of the T V stations are carrying the President's speech. The Great Seal is shown and the screen dissolves and a familiar face comes into focus, it is none other than the President Walter Marple. Outside on the street corner is a small crowd gathered around a salesman who is selling handy- dandy-super-openers, it is Danzel Goins. “Look out Danzel, he almost got hit by that city bus, that bus driver is none other than Rita Fletcher who along with Kay Henry are the only female bus drivers in New York City. Across the street is the famous R.C.A. Building where the Ed Sullivan show is in progress. Ed is on vacation but he is being replaced by that great celebrity Lonnie Porter. On the program tonight is that rock and roll singer Jerry Sutherland, his latest hit is Love Me I'm Lonely. Also on the program is opera singer Martha McConnell and the world champion women's tag-team wrestlers Cassie Tiger Lady Zink and Carol Scratch-em-up Fitzpatrick. Last, but not least, is the novelty act of Jeane Sowers and Charlotte Taylor, who, while on their latest tour in outer Slobolia, learned to play chopsticks on a piano submergad under 20 feet of Dill Pickle Juice, it's a real sweet swinging bit. There has been a terrible accident here in New York City. Walter Cannon and Bob Dozer have been injured while testing a new General Motors invention invented by Sharon we usually stop em Auer a brilliant scientist, Ford said these brakes would never work. They didn't! They are being taken to The Last Resort Hospital in lower Brooklyn. They are being helped in by nurses Donna Reed and Connie Hoodlet to the operating room where the world-famous brain surgeon David Wyatt Yeager, M.D., P.H.D., D.D.T. will attempt to patch them up. He didn't! We've been in the past Jon, now let's go twenty years into the future, 2004. There is the illumination, why it's dear old Roseville. Why you wouldn't recognize it since it has grown to a population of 1 million, it's all centered around the uranium mFne of multi-millionaire Robert Snyder who found a uranium mine in his back yard. Hey, there is the Roseville newspaper THE ROSEVILLE HI LITES with Barbara Stigler, Editor and Gini Corbin, staff artist, her new comic strip is Mary Worth's second cousin Shelba Atkins. Overlooking this vast metropolis we see a gigantic supermarket, THE LITTLE BEAR, owned by that food king. Bill Barker. Clerking in the store is Leona Spires who is watching Don Fluharty that All-American Olympic swin- mer autographing his favorite cereal muncey-cruncies. Looking over Roseville we see that famous night spot owned by Jerry Deitrick, THE GOLDEN FISHTAIL. Ap- pearing there is that famous comedian, Wes Marple who has a long-playing album out titled, THE PADLOCKED MIND of WES MARPLE. Sort of tall humor. Appearing on the stage now to that fabulous champagne music of Ruth Truax and her Dixieland five is that bubble-dancer Gypsy Rose Polen. We see that Roseville got its new fire house with Carole Evans the Fire Chief and Beaulah Kinder assistant and Jackie Vandenbard champion checker player. We're glad that Carole finally got a job where she could really hot-rod. There is dear old Roseville High. Here comes the school bus, I've never seen one driven quite like that. Well no wonder it's Charlene Beisser driving. In Roseville's new ultra-modern gym we see its phys-ed teacher Gail Ervin. It seems that school is let out at 2 o'clock, well, no wonder, it's our old school chum who is sup- erintendent, Odette Folden. She is still wearing her pony tail. I think we've just about seen everyone from the class of '61. There is the village of White Cottage. Why look down there in that old coal house, that man surrounded by old radios and TV's that's Bob Mohler. Well, I guess that shows that time hasn't changed too much. The Baseball team o Roseville High School of 1960 continued to gain much recognition for its school, as it has done in the past three or four years. The team seemed to folio v the same schedule as they did in 1959 by getting beat by the same Powhatton Point team in the same District Cham- pionship game. The team is expecting to get revenge against the Powhatton team this coming year. They lost only two seniors: Pat Miller and Bob Wolfe. They ore expecting a lot from this year's graduating players: Bob Dozer, Dave Yeager, Miles Payton, Junior Anders, Charles Williamson, Bob Snyder, Bill Barker, and Paul Williams. The team defeated four of the same teams as last year in the tournaments. They were Frazeysburg, Adamsville, Chester hi II, and Newport. They defeated Frazeysburg in the County opening game 10-2; in which they lost their left-handed pitching ace, Junior Anders, with a broken jaw. They won the County Championship by walloping Adamsville 13-0 in two innings. They defeated Chesterhill in the Sectional opening game by a close 5-4 score. Then, in the Sectional semi-finals they beat Newport 4-0. Next, they won the Sectional Championship over Fort Fry, with a score of 4-0. Then, they met their fate against the same Powhatton Point team. It was a tied game until the 6th inning when Powhatton Point laid down two well-placed bunts that nothing could be done about. The final score was 4-0. The Baseball team scored 85 runs against their opponents, while their opponents scored only 28 runs. In the lost four years the baseball team of Roseville has compiled a tournament record of 12-4.
