Dedication The SPOTLIGHT STAFF of 1962 proudly dedicates this yearbook to MRS. MERTA LEA CUP1T. Mrs. Cupit represents twenty-one years of teaching service in Rosepine School, her own Alma Mater. She breathes and lives the lives of each little pupil she teaches. As the poet said, We live in deeds, not years and Count time by heart throbs, not figures on a dial. With wit and wisdom, counsel and charity, loyalty and love, and a won- derful personality, this faithful teacher has entered into the hearts of many students. She has always been ready to extend help and advice during our most difficult and formulative years. For her devotion and guidance to our class, we will always be grate- ful. SEATED: R. Mitcham: C. Bradshaw, superintendent; M. Redmond, president; E. Palmer, book keeper; R. Schaefer; STANDING: R. Jackson, assistant superintendent; E. Davis, M. Wood- hatch; C. Parker, J. Trotti; Haymon, secretary; M. Sanders, vice president; J. Williams; T. Berry; R. Monk; director of lunch; A. Dowden, visiting teacher. Superintendent's Message I wish to commend the staff and sponsors of Rosepine High School for their contribution and efforts involved in compiling and editing this yearbook. As you review the many activities in which you have engaged during the academic year, may they point out pleasant mem- ories and visible marks of progress. It is hoped that this record may serve for many years to verify by print and pictures the experiences that you have enjoyed during this school term and help you find inspi- ration to continue worthwhile activities. My best wishes go with each one of you represented in this publication. Sincerely.! Curtis Bradshaw, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools Vernon Parish School Board Principal’s Message IVY CALHOUN The academic year 1961-62 has been a notable one for Rosepine School. I feel that we have climbed to great heights in our accom- plishments, and that this has been one of our better years. You, the students of Rosepine, with the cooperation of wonderful parents, the understanding of a well-qualified faculty, and the aid and support of your local school officials, have made these accom- plishments possible. Each school year means achievements for you that will certainly enrich your future years. As you march forward in pursuit of scholas- tic attainments, you will find within yourself a depth of appreciation for all the many gifts of life. It is my wish that each of you will be endowed with the success and happiness you seek. To the editor, staff, and sponsor of the SPOTLIGHT, my con- gratulations upon a job well done. You have worked especially hard but have much to show in producing this book. May the future bring to you a successful and fruitful life.
