SOPHOMORES WI LE GUE CHAMPIONSHIP The sophomore basketball team had it's high- est finish in over ten years, as they won the Mission Valley League championship. Coached by Mr. Gilbert Jimenez, the team had an overall record of nine wins and seven losses. Some of the outstanding players in- cluded Carlos Lopes, Gil Jimenez, Anthony Flores, and Mike Samarazich. Among all of their exciting games was the game against Arroyo High School in the sec- ond round. The fact that two starters were missing didn't help the team. Although only two minutes were remaining in the fourth quarter and Rosemead was down by seven. they were able to tie and go into overtime. The Panthers, though, came out victorious by five points. This game was the toughest and most exciting the sophomore basketball team has played during this year. The captains of the team were Gil Jimenez and Carlos Lopes. I.
