. . WRESTLERS DO WELL I TQURNAMENTS The J.V. Wrestling team was very competi- tive this year. Under Coach Gilbert Adame. they won most of the matches that they entered. In tournament competition, they placed first in the Paramount tournament. first at Buena Park. second in the Mark Keppel tournament, and another first in our very own tournament here at Rosemead which won us six individual tournament champions. The wrestling team worked hard during the summer and competed in several summer league tournaments. This helped the J.V. wrestlers gain valuable ex- perience, which they needed for league competition. Some of the outstanding wres- tlers included Gerardo Armendariz, Joe Totsis, and Adrian Martinez. Gerardo Ar- mendariz said about the season. Overall we had a slow start but we came out strong in the end. Most of the J.V. guys will wres- tle Varsity to defend our CIF champion- ship. I. EW COAC GUIDES SOCCER The Varsity Soccer team was coached by Mr. James Taite in his first year at Rosemead. Com- peting in a well rounded league. the team ended the season with five wins ten losses and two ties. In the preseason, the team tied Temple City, I-I in a close thrill- ing game. While in league, the team played many close games. One of the most exciting games of the year was against Mark Keppel, where the team led at halftime only to lose at the end of the game. Some of the outstand- ing players included Jesus Cypres, Gabriel Rocha and Igna- cio lnostros. Coach Taite com- mented, The team worked hard and showed a lot of spirit.
