The fight for victory began a week before school started. The fourteen returning let- termen set the pace for upcoming athletes. There were hard practices, some awfully rugged games, some definitely sore muscles, a few serious injuries, but a continuous striving for success. However these players have some memories and ex- periences that will always stay with them. It takes hard work, determination, and a candy bar in their back pocket to make an R Club member. Cards Qualify For State Meet - One State Champ Front: R. Heuertz, D. Heuertz, R, Mohr, K, Parr, J. Komen. Back: I. Kort,J', Bonifas, B, Bonifas, Coach Var1Lengen Rod wins snare Class D 100 yd. dash. Randy makes a winning jump. Golfing Gets Itfs Start The State Track and Field Meet held at Kearney climaxed the Cardinal Track Season. Rod Heuertz, and Randy Mohr both qualified for the State Meet. After tough, tight competition, Rod placed lst in the 100 yard dash with a winning time of 10.2, and also took 2nd in the 220. with 22.9. As a school, Rose- land placed 5th out of the 51 scoring class D schools. During the season, five school records were broken. The 880 yd. re1ayteam,RodHeuertz, Randy Mohr, Jeff Konen, Heuertz, previous a l:38.6. and Danny broke the record with Rod' sprinted the 100 yd. dash in a 9.9 and the 220 dash in 22.9.
