Shaw Seventeen boys went out for football to start off the '69 football seasonunder Coaches Tim Olin and Delmer Vanlsengen. There were four returning letterman from last year. The team was able to defeat Campbell for their only win of the season, but they were receiving experience and playing time needed for a team. Experience and depth were the main problems in this year's team. Injuries to key players was another disaster that hit the team. Even though the record didn't turn out too well for the Cardinals, they received much necessary experience for future years. at si practice drills. Although the Cardinals were not a winning team, they did manage two victories. The first was over Campbell 46-43, and the second over Bladen in the District Tournament, 47-4O.All regulars were underclassmen except for Ken Parr. This experience gained should be of great help in the coming year. Leading scorers were Randy Mohr 248, Jeff Konen with 183, and Ken Parr with 169. Randy also was the leading rebounder with 17 per game. Although the Cardinals were not awinning team, we should be proud of the sportsmanship and deter- mination of the team members during 1969-70 basketball season. At right Ken puts out 110'7f effort! The South Central Nebraska volleyball champs for 1969-70 are the Roseland Cardinals. The team started out with a heart-breaking season, losing many hard-fought games by only a couple points. Going into the Conference tournament with a 3-8 record, the girls first victory was over Holstein. Then advancing to an undefeated Trumbull squad the tenseness grew tighter, but with the backing of the fans and the spirit of the girls, the Cardinals pulled through to another victory to continue to the finals. Bladen was next to feel the sting of defeat as Roseland pushed on for the title. The game with Guide Rock was the deciding point ofthe tournament. By the win of two more straight sets the thrill and happiness of being Conference Champions was Roseland's to keep. The team also participated ina32-team tourna- ment in Hastings, placing in the top eight. The last game was lost to the eventual champs, Wilcox. Class Prophecy As we look into the future years of the Seniors of the 7 0 class we see that Bonnie Bonifas has just won Suzy Homemaker of the year and is now in a race with Betty Crocker for the flakiest pie crust ever made, Norb Trausch is now touring the world as a pro golfer. Each day he seems to be improving, because in the last tournament he only hit four people. Jackie Konen is now a Drivers Education teacher at R,H,S, and is teaching her students to go around the town pump without hitting it. Lavon Buhr is now residing at the Adams County Courthouse where she has been trying to get her drivers license, but she can't seem to keep her eyes on the road because of the cute guy she takes for a ride. Kenny Parr is now the high point man in the NBA. He has just beat out Wilt Chamberlain after a big race for the honors. Jane Konen is now campaigning across the United States for first woman president. And it looks like chances are slim for Spiro. Patti Harms is now a world famous writer of wit. She also has written many joke books for adult entertain- ment. She only has one trouble-- after she writes the jokes she has to have someone explain them to her. Kathy Heuertz has just become a nun. She is an authority on human relations and has just published her new book entitled Sex and the Single Nun. Lenny Trausch is now the owner of Lenny's Latest. lt is a pants making factory in which one pair of pants are turned out every week for Lenny's own personal use. Mary Ann Hoffman is now the owner of one of the largest peanut butter factories in the world, Huffy's Puffy Peanut Butter. She is now experimenting to find a more nuttier tasting peanut. Rodney Heuertz has just set a record in the 100 meter dash at the Olympics and is now hunting for a room big enough to keep all his medals. We, the Roseland Seniors of '70 of Adams County in the State of Nebraska, in a sound state of mind, reasoning, and memory, do make, publish, and declare our last will and testament. Class Will To the Juniors, we will our ability to gain support from surrounding towns, our books from which we have acquired so much knowledge, and the stage in the gym on which we so successfully put on our plays. To the sophomores, we give our ability to roam about the schoolhouse during school hours, also our unending patience which always kept us out of trouble, To the young and inexperienced freshmen who still have 540 of the most exciting days of their attendance at this school, we leave a map of the various paths we took to get to our classrooms and the office. To the various students, we bequeath our personal traits as follows: Lenny Trausch wills his farmer pants to Cheryl Gartner, his height to Mary Mangers, and his ability to play golf from behind a tree to Mr. Brazeale, Kathy Heuertz wills her co- ordination to stay off the volley- ball floor to Karen Parr, Her ability to type to Mr. Brazeale, and her gray hairs to Debbie Consbruck. Norb Trausch wills his ability to get a date first time, every time to Jeff Konen, his thermometer to Mr. Cecrle, and his ability to jump out of fastmoving vehicles to Mary Mangers. We trotted through the woods on horseback, danced on a moonlit ferry, sped around the lake in boats, flew over it in seaplanes, explored the Ozark Caverns, consumed quan- tities of roasted wieners, and we also accidently fell in the swimming pool. Of course, there was a lor of just plain goofing around in between, Finally, pleasantly exhausted and slightly sunburned, we boarded our bus to head home to Nebraska.
