Che of the h1ghest honors 1n school IS to be elected to the Student Councll Th1s organ1za t1on, sponsored by M1ss Eva Carstensen, IS the governlng body of the school and rt has as 1ts members one student from each homeroom The seventh grade elects 1ts members after the f1rSt senester to enable them to become a l1ttle better acqua1nted before they deslgnate someone to f1ll th1s post Janes Mxller a sen1or was pres1dent the f1rst senester and was 8SS1SU8d by Peggy Shay v1ce pres1dent and B111 Todd secretary treasurer James Harr1s became president the second semester Janes M1ller became v1ce pres1dent and Peggy Shay was elected secretary treasurer The counc1l met about tw1ce a month dur1ng some hour 1n the day Th1s neet1ng on school tlne was a plan Just adopted th1s year They carrled out the 1dea of mornxng study halls for students who wxshed to work on the1r lessons before school started In add1t1on to th1s they re wrote the Counc1l s const1tut1on and sponsored two m1xers after athletlc contests Hav1ng completed a very successful year the Councll looks forward to even b1gger and better th1ngs 1D the years to come M1ss Carstensen has sponsored the group for several years and It IS her understandlng, gu1dance and energet1c SDIFIC Wh1Ch pushes the COUhC1l on to 1ts accompllshments 3
