RHS Hosts State Convention Oar of spring brought not only warm weather, but a state con- vention, ASB elections, and an all- school assembly to Roseburg high school. Senior Angela Gaines was elected to this year’s Girls’ League state pres- idency and presided over the state convention held in the Roseburg gym. Represented by twenty schools, Rose- burg received two second place awards and a first place award in the scrapbook contest. Highlights of the entertainment were a karate demon- stration and two sol oists singing the theme song, “I Am Woman.” Voting for ASB officers once again resulted in a run-off for president. With a majority of votes, Jack Ander- son was elected ASB president. Crescent Valley high school choir was the final all-school assembly. In December, Roseburg’s choir per- formed at Corvallis. During candidate speeches, Dean Jones addresses the student body. Utilizing their voting privilege, Lorelei Hilgart and Patty Iwata make their choice. Spring 29
