With the arrival of 3 new coaches, the Cougars and their fans were looking forward to a new beginning. But, it never seemed to get started. The Cougars truly practiced hard and played even harder, but they never seemed to get the breaks to go their way. Some bright spots in this otherwise dim season were the winning of the Homecoming game, and the tremndous effort of Lonnie Ford, who rushed for 1,000+ yards. COACHES — L. Lewis, R. Weilbacher, M. Due to lack of Senior leadership and experience the team ended the season with a 6-18 record. The Courgarettes never gave up. Most of their games were not decided with skill but luck. One highlight was a thrilling victory over Cameron 56-50 in Cougar Gym. With five returning starters the team shows a lot of promise for next season. D S K € T B F L L 80 IMSITY The hardest way to lose any ballgame is to lose it by just one point. The Cougars found that out as they suffered through a season full of one-point heartbreaks. Although the 83-84 team possessed skill and talent, Lonnie Ford and Fred Bailey were named to 1st Team All District and Donald Bell, Honorable Mention. The one thing the Cougars didn’t have enough of was luck. Looking at the schedule, if they had just scored 10 more points, they would have been 7-3, and would have made it to the playoffs, instead of finishing 3-7. They had plenty of fans, and it always was good to see that even though things didn’t go their way, they had lots more class than other teams in the district. R to L: E. Bostick. T. Green. (Books) R. God’s Love Includes Everyone! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) 2. Though Tragically Separated From God By Sin, We Can Be Saved Through Faith In Jesus Christ! .. and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) “But as many as receive Him, to them give he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe in his name.” (John 1:12) 3. God’s Spirit Brings Assurance That We Belong To Him! “The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God” (Romans 8:16) 4. A Life Dominated By Perfect Love Is The Goal of Christian Experience! Jesus said, “... you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) 196 tr Seniors of 1W dukuu fioJLcJfar O Q Ot, 5 Q-Ax 2 VrJL ryjL . rf TP i9c uf Lxl-tor yJ rrZ CJjCaJjLI DCA.
