Sharing the Days The year 1981 marked the tenth anniversary of the consolidation of the Rosebud and Lott high schools into Rosebud-Lott High School. It also marked the beginning of a new decade, that of the 80’s. The 60’s were marred by violence both on college campuses and in the nation’s cities. The 70’s were the decade in which the nation pulled out of a war that had less than the wholehearted support of the American public. Although the economic picture was not very promising at the New Year, the decade did get off to a good start with the return in January of the 52 Americans held hostage in Iran for 14V2 months. Perhaps that was an augury for a more auspicious decade than the previous two. At any rate this ten-year period looks as if it might be a more formal one than the two that preceeded it. The Presidential in- auguration was the most formal of the past several and long, white gloves and ballroom dancing looked as if they were on the way in, in Washington, D.C., at least. Meanwhile at Rosebud-Lott, the in fashions were still blue jeans, cowboy hats, boots, fashions that had been around this part of the country for a long time. Also characteristic of the school was the closeness of its peo- ple, not just student-to-student, but also teacher-to- teacher and teacher-to-student. There was laughter in the halls and sometimes quite a bit in the classrooms — a warm, sharing laughter that was a result of our closeness. The gossip group. And then he said ... Anxious to get the day started. Having fun at a Friday night football game. 6
