Mill NorwE ------1...7Z HER | Sophomore Senior HOMECOMING PROJECTS The high school classes competed against each other for top honors. The Jrs. received 1st place, Sophs, received 2nd place, and the Srs. and Fresh, tied for 3rd place. Junior RKE ttiintft Freshmen Junior DISCO SOCK HOP ‘Protac” provided disco music at the annual sock hop after the Homecoming game. DONKEY BASKETBALL The R-L FFA sponsored a Donkey Basketball Game on February 10, in Cougar Gym. Participating in the basketball games were the Lott merchants and the Rosebud merchants, Feedlot and PEL. Vocational Agriculture and R-L Faculty, and the Young Farmers and Co-Op. Also, there were the Hobby Donkey Derbies and the Cracker Races. 9 FFA RODEO The FFA Chapter held its annual rodeo on the nights of May 4th 5th. Cowboys cowgirls from all across Texas and other neighboring states participated in this rodeo. Spectators were entertained with such events as sand surfing, junior senior bull riding, steer saddling, and bareback bronc riding. STUDENT FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME This year the student body had the pleasure of seeing an exciting basketball game and half-time performance between the senior boys and the male faculty. The half- time performance was put on by some of the female fac- ulty members. They performed to the song “Freedom. The faculty team came out victorious. The purpose of this basketball game was to raise money for two National Honor Society Scholarships. 11 TALENT SHOW The Student Council sponsored the annual Cougar Country Talent Show on April 21.1979 in the Red Thea- ter to raise money for the Vickey Blakeney Scholarship Fund. Davenport and R. Horton, Basketball; E. Sedillo and K. Brueggeman, Baseball. David Earl Johnson's football jersey 88 was retired. STUDENT COUNCIL BANQUET The annual Student Council Banquet was held on May 12,1979 in the River Forest Ban- quet Room. Certificates were presented to each Student Council Member. Officers were also recognized. The guest speakers were Dr. and Mrs. George Stokes. 22 FHA BANQUET The annual FHA Parent Honor Banquet was held on April 3,1979 in the Snack Bar. Entertainment was provided by the Cougette Drill Team in the Cougar Gym. HECE BANQUET The annual HECE Employers Honor Banquet was held on May 3. 1979 in the Cougar Gym. Employers honored included: Cedar's Cafe, Country Kitchen, Dairy Queen, Gibson’s Discount Store, Rosebud-Lott Schools, Rosebud Medical Services, Ruble Drug Store, Service Floors, South- er’s Supermarket, Sugar n’Spice Bakery, Tasty Mart, The Western Fair, and Zip’s Drive-In. Guest speaker was Mrs. Ruth Wingo. 23 HONOR SOCIETIES BANQUET The annual NHS and NJHS Banquet was held on Saturday, April 28,1979 in the River Forest Banquet Room. Awards received were: High Salesman, Chip Hejl and The High Sales Group included: Eliz- abeth Huddleston, Chip Hejl, Sheryl Scheffer, Karen Greger, David Ernst, Jes- sie Velasquez, Mike Voltin. and Matt Bor- ing. Honor Graduates were also recog- nized. Recipients of the NHS scholarships were Nancy Michalewicz and Shirley Marek. The new officers of the NHS and NJHS were also installed at the banquet. OEA BANQUET The annual OEA Employers Appreciation Banquet was held on March 15,1979 at the First Bap- tist Church. Awards received were: High Sales: Marilyn Frei and runner-up, Erlinda Martinez, VOE Student- Of -The- Year: Brenda Roessler. All Employers were recognized and received special gifts, includ- ing, Ed Reynolds Chevrolet, First Baptist Church. Bands partici- pating in the concert were: Rosebud and Lott Elementary, Rosebud-Lott Jr. High and Rosebud-Lott High School Band. The director for these bands is Mr. Carl Cooper. Kavey served as Vice-President of the Varsity Band during her senior year.
