ROSEBUD-LOTT HIGH SCHOOL 1976-77 TRAVIS, TEXAS VOLUME 7 We, the members of the annual staff, have worked together in a united effort to compose the Cougar Tales of 1977. We hope this book will be a pleasant reminder of the joyful memories that you and your fellow classmates have shared at R-LHS. KAHLER In appreciation for having helped many Rosebud - Lott students achieve their goals through their pursuit of knowledge. Mrs. Kahler is a warm person with a ready smile, always willing to help and work toward improving our school. She has successfully directed the One-Act play for nine years in district competition. This was her last year as director and for the whole school we would like to say, Thank You.” MRS. ROMAIN Thirty-eight years ago Mrs. Romain chose teach- ing as a career because it was a way to serve others and to enjoy using any talent and training she pos- sessed. She devoted her training to helping students think and do things better until they had seen the goal and had reached it for themselves. Now that Mrs. Romain is retiring she can reminisce, 1 have a sense of a small part in things past. Perhaps the best of it will continue. 4 Teaching is the art of aiding a student to discover his uni- que abilities in order that he can reach his full potential. But most imponant--teaching is caring. Caring for the student as an individual with a specific purpose in life-- that of developing his abilities. Teaching SUPERINTENDENT EARL COOK THE MAN BEHIND 6 The joy found in friendship is one of the pleasures of life. It is to your advantage to always make an effort to solidify those friendships. PRINCIPAL BILL McQUEARY Students can be divided into three groups: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened. 1 ''O ' v WORKING IT ALL OUT. . . It is up to each individual to either expand his knowledge fully or to remain in ignorance. Thus, each student should grasp the knowledge that is provided in the classroom and life and nourish its growth. In this way an individual can profit fully. At the beginning of each year, organizations lay formats for the fulfillment of goals. As the year progresses, obsta- cles are conquered, and results are witnessed. In the end, it is through these organizations, that students learn to work together, learn to accept individual differences, and work to achieve a common goal. In the heart of every athlete there lies a purpose—a goal— a desire. And behind these lie determination. The kind of determination that never allows him to quit or to cease trying, no matter how many times he loses. An athlete continually strives for the top because in the end—all the hours of practice, self-sacrifice, sweat and defeat are somehow worth that one moment of glory—the glory of winning. Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know? Do you get what you're hoping for? When you look behind you there's no open door. What are you hoping for? Do you know? Once we were standing still in time, chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. And you knew how I loved you but my spirit was free, laughing at the questions you once asked of me. Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know? Now looking back at all we had planned, we let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we see how sad the answers to these questions can be? Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know? Do you get what you're hoping for? When you look behind you, there’s no open door. What are you hoping for? Do you know?
