fddd gliding On one September morning in 1948, twelve green but anxious Frosh walked up the magic steps into high school. After registering and feeling our way around a bit we elected class officers: Jane Allread, President: Bobby Batey, Vice President: and Vera Smith, Secretary- Treasurer. Mr. Arrington was chosen class sponsor. We had not gotten over the first stage fright when initiation hit us full force. After returning the Sophomores' party we sank back into obscurity until spring. As sophomores, those wise mortals who seemed so old the year before, we suddenly discovered our membership had changed. We had lost Robert Dickinson, Betty Wenholz, and Nita Beebe. Two new boys, Ted Albright from Livingston and Joe Toohey from Ashland, graced our roster. Class officers were elected: Jean Coate, President: Bobby Batey, Vice President: and Steve Dyba, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Cocking was our class sponsor. Initiation followed by a par- ty, completed our fall activities. We gave another party in the spring. In the fall of 1950, we came back to R. H.S. as Juniors, upperclassmen in the Junior-Senior room. We had lost Joe Toohey and Mary Ann Munguia that year but peeking over the desk top was Allen Timberman, transfer from Miles City. Election of officers got the ball rolling with Bobby Batey, President: Ioan Coate, Vice President, and Jean Coate, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Kulinski was chosen class sponsor. Things went normally for awhile, then we took over the Wrangler and made Vera Smith, Editor. We helped in the Christmas Cantata and the Junior- Senior play. Aaron Slick from Punkin Crik. The Prom was May 12 and the banquet on May 13 at the Century Club in Forsyth. As old, wise, dignified Seniors we returned to school for our last year. To our amazement we had lost Steve Dyba and Allen Timberman, but Alice Butcher joined us from Wisconsin. A very busy group this year, we elected Vera Smith, Presidentg Jean Coate, Vice President, Joan Coate, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Stauffer was chosen for our class sponsor. The usual Senior rush followed us all year. On April 5 we presented the Senior play, Leave to Marry. On Skip Day, April 13, we had a lovely three-day trip to Billings, Great Falls, and Helena. High School Week in Bozeman was May 1, 2, 3. The juniors did a fine job on the Prom, May 10. We picked a Spanish theme with multiple colors. Our class flower was yellow roses and our motto was Austa la Vista, meaning Till we meet again. Closing a very satisfactory four years, baccalaureate services were May 18 and commencement services May 21. Two boys and seven girls strong, we proudly march out to make our marks in the world. All the while we will cherish our high school days at R.H. S.
