Or the singing of S N AT THE YORK Did you ever see a finer girl? . . . That's my daughter. the one with the red carnations! Proud fathers pointed out their gay young daughters to other proud fathers at the first R-K father- daughter banquet, January 12. As they entered the York Hotel. the girls, beautiful in flared skirts, frilled petticoats, and fragrant corsages, pinned carnation on the dads' lapels. The turkey dinner at 7:00 o'clock, with its lovely dinner music PAT Koi iunat CrJf1h'.v, Rrm'111111'-y Maher, 1111.17 ffarir Jules Il ilb nokia 411111 i'f111H4'1'. by pianist Vera Roberts, was a terriffic success. Even the speeches were .1 joy and a delight. Mr. Tom Finan, as master of ceremonies, scintillated through the night. He talked about the many honors and awards won by the class and made each senior named take 11 bow. Father Curtin then gave a brief but effective speech. XVhen Nlallie Thompson gave her little talk, all the girls, like their class president, were kinda smiley 'round the lips and teary ,round the lashes. The guest speaker, Monsignor lloyd Sullivan, noted far and wide for his youth work, gave a powerful address on the father's importance in a girl's life. Comparing him to St. Joseph he showed how their fathers take Godls place in their security and pi'otection. One of the high spots of the evening was the reading of a telegram sent by Mother Virginia Marie, Mother Miriam. and faculty. Another was the singing around the piano as Xlrs. Chicazola played. The fathers had a wonderful time. Nlany of them kept their daughters up for hours talking about the banquet. Next day the girls gathered in clusters, gushing to each other and to anyone who would listen. It is too bad the dads and the P. T. A. could not hear all the compliments about them. --Rosi, Mmm.
