SYMPATHY On March 50, the freshmen of Sec- tion B formed a guard of honor at the funeral of one of their classmates, Virginia Szwabo. Virginia came to Rosati Kain from St. Augustine's Grade School. Up until the time of her illness she was very active at R.K. having joined the Freshmen Glee Club, and the Fighting 69th, she had also, become an auxiliary -member of the Queen of the Angels' Praesidium of the Legion of Mary. That Virginia had endeared herself to her classmates was evidenced by the many visits they made to the hospital and to her home, and the many cards and letters sent to her. Although she suffered intensely, she never lost her cheerful disposition. Our deepest sympathy is offered to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. joseph Szwabo. DOVTN BT 'rut 'MISSBSIFPI Friday, May 14th, was a memorable day for the seniors. They were the honored guests at Carondelet, the mother house of the Sisters of St. kloseph. After being shown around the grounds, where they met some of the novices, :ill assembled for Bene- diction. As each girl entered the chapel she was given a small miraculous medal. The chapel, a beautiful ex- ample of Romanesque architecture, contains the largest collection of relics in North America, having five entire bodies and many smaller relics. After Benediction the girls were invited into the old French courtyard where they enjoyed soda and doughnuts served by the nuns. The seniors were later allowed to visit with the Rosati- Kain postulants and novices. . - Rl! Gaily-decked cars and busses en- route to Ripa May 19th, ploughed through a torrential rain. After a warm welcome at the mother house of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the seniors attended Benediction and heard a touching talk from their friend, Father McNicholas. After a tour of the convent the girls found at their places in the cafeteria a small statue of the Blessed Mother. The candidates served sun- daes, chocolate cake, and cokes. -BARBARA WALZ.
