Gonzaga, a native Buffalonian, attended the elementary and secondary orn school at Sacred Heart Academy. She holds an A.B. and A.M. from Canisius College and a Ph.D. with a major in Physics from the Catholic University of America, Wash- ington, D.C. In the early years of her religious life, she was a member of the faculty at Sacred Heart Academy and later became the Dean of the Community s Training School for Teachers. In 1947, she was an active force in founding Rosary Hill College which f1949 she opened in 1948. She became the first dean of the College. In the summer o f , . . . . . S , t was elected Provincial Superior of the Holy Name Province of the Sisters o am Francis of Penance and Christian Charity and is, in that capacity, the President of the Board of Trustees of the College. Mother Gonzaga is a profound and original thinker. She planned the fundamental aims and the curriculum of the college, basing them on the Franciscan ideal as ex- ressed by St. Bonaventure. She wrote the first catalog, chose the motto, Veritatem Pacientes in caritate g planned the first roster of studies, and accepted the first class. Sincere, impartial, and understanding, Mother Gonzaga's outstanding character- istic is humility. Ever aware of the Franciscan ideal, she does the truth in charity. , .. : 1 v- ..-.-.-
