The girls, temporary residents of the upper halls, played Canasta and rummy hy the hours, listened to a hor- rowed radio, and chewed candy hars. The lazy lads in the lower corridors spent their sparc time sleeping or singing. as might hest suit their moods. Part of the early evenings were spent in the malxeshilt heauty parlor, where Sisters spread malte-up on the hoys' none-too-happy faces. The trials were few and the experience rewarding.
