After a hard fought battle. through muck. mire, and the lloly Family eleven. the Crusaders emerged on the long end of a 14-O score. The T. Dfs were scored by Don Murphy and Dick Lieb. Sonny Wlile accounted for the converf sions. After the game the Alumni Association sponsored a home-coming dance and the tradif tional trophy. the Bronze Derby. was awarded to the victors. The next game. November l. was played at XVest jefferson. The great line play of the for ward wall and the accurate passing of quarter- back Don Murphy enabled the Crusaders to hand their opponents a stinging defeat. The sensational receiving of end lim Devaney and Sonny VVile accounted for all of Rosaryfs T. Dfs. The final score was Rosary 25, VVest jefferson 9. aaa 'lihe football team of Freshmen and Sopho- mores piled up an enviable record this past sea son. A hard-fighting aggregation. they played teams much larger than they. Grandview 0 On November 8 at South lligh Field. Rosary engaged a highly favored St. Mary's eleven. il'he game was played almost entirely in St. Maryis territory. Three times Rosary was inside the Ramblers' ten yard line but failed to score. Only once. in the closing minutes of the game. did St. Marys threaten the Rosary goal. After holding the Ramblers for four successive downs on the two yard line. the Crusaders tooly pos' session of the ball and the final gun sounded. ilihe score? 0-O. The football season came to an ollicial close on the night of Uecember 16, when the Athletic Association feted the football team at the South- ern Hotel. Paul Bixler was the main speaker. Short talks were given by hlsgr.
