Larry Ahlers, Loren Ahlers, and Dennis Anderson joined the class in the second grade. During these first two enlightening years our teacher was Mrs. Frieda Copple. Mrs. Orr had to put up with us during the next three years. We five talked of going through school together. We were so proud because we had one of the few perfect classes in school (no girls). But, with the sixth grade came Karen Klintworth who made us rea- lize our mistaken thinking. Mrs. Elton Anderson was our teacher that year. Upon entering Junior High we met our able teacher for the next two years, MissAgnes Stanek. Barbara Slaughter, Mardie Ves- tal, and Dan Loofe joined us in the seventh grade. We lost Mardie in the 8th grade, but the remaining eight of us graduated from Junior High. In September, 1957, all of us but Dan entered high school. We greeted Katherine Krumwiede, Jackie Slaughter, Claire Johnson, and Wesley Gunderson this year. We all bravely took the rigid i- nitiation given by the sophomores. Our sponsor was Mrs. Marr and our officers were: President-Wes, Secretary-Tom, and Treasurer- Claire. As sophomores we achieved revenge by an initiation of the in- coming freshmen. With our sponsor, Coach Ostdiek, we ate at the Normandy in Sioux City, followed by the movie, Green Mansions . President-Larry, Secretary-Dennis, and Treasurer-Loren, made up our governing body. We were joined by Ronald Kramer in our Junior year. We sold $910.00 worth of magazines for our Senior fund. We presented our class play, Have Patience, Doctor , in the spring. We entertain- ed the seniors in May with a banquet and prom with a Stairway To The Stars theme. Our class officers were: Jackie- President, Barbara-Secretary, and Karen-Treasurer. Coach Sailors was our able sponsor this year. As seniors, we had our pictures taken at Genelli’s in Sioux City on September 14th. Afterwards we ate at Baxter’s and took a ride in an airplane. Mr. Beck was our sponsor during this all important last year of high school. We lost Dennis Anderson this year. Our class officers were: President-Karen, Secretary-Jackie and Treasurer-Barbara. Our motto was, The Ropes of the Past, Will Ring the Bells of the Future, and our colors were silver and light blue. Tom Anderson, Loren Ahlers, Larry Ahlers, and Eddie Novak started and finished at RHS. SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Seniors of Rosalie High, Class of 1961, being of sound mind and body declare with full approval and assurance this our last Will and Testament as follows: I: We, the proud Seniors, Class of 1961, will and bequeath our beautifully carved desks to the class of 1962, so that they may gaze out of them next year. Ill: We, the proud Seniors, Class of 1961, will and bequeath our charming dispositions to the faculty who fully realized how charming we really were. IV: We, the proud Seniors, Class of 1961, will and bequeath all of our stolen pencils back to the Juniors who stole them in the first place. ROSALIE SENIOR CLASS (1961) SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY We have just received our tickets to the 11th annual Symphony of the Flowers, presented each year at Carneige Hall by the class of 61 of Rosalie High School. As we enter we can hear the orchestra warming up. Standing on the podium in his swallow-tail coat, baton waving in the air, is a gentleman we recognize as Mr. D. W. Beck, still leading his little charges as head conductor. On the bull fiddle, directly in front of him is world-famous Hot Fingers Krumwiede. She is snapping out some red-hot Dixie- land jazz. Over to her right is a suave-looking violinist with his eyes peacefully closed as he plays a lilting melody. We are truly sur- prised to recognize him as Claire Johnson. His equally smooth-looking partner, globally known as The White Wizard of the violin world, is playing a well-known flower arrangement Yellow Rose of Texas , in honor of his sweet little 200 lb. Southern Belle whom he just made Mrs. Wes Gunderson. All eyes are now turned to the stage as the ballerinas make their debut. They are pictures of lovliness in their pink leo- tards with pink roses in their hair. They are listed on the pro- gram as Nimble Knees Eddie Novak and Light Foot Larry Ahlers. Next on the program we hear the soft voice of the Queen of Dandelions, Miss Jacquiline Slaughter (she still uses her maiden name). She flits across the stage and collides with her equally famous cousin, Miss Barbara Slaughter, who is the reigning Queen of Thistles. They seem to have gotten their cues mixed up, but are soon rescued and untangled by Ronnie Kramer, who is Producer, Director, Stage Manager, Prop Man, and official flower cutter for this annual spectacular. After a brief intermission the lights are again dimmed and the spotlight focuses on a form in a green satin gown with a pink rosebud tiara. Do our eyes deceive us, or is that Tom Anderson, reciting that beautiful poem, The Trailing Arbutus . How inspi- ring! This beautiful spectacular is fast drawing to a close and as a grand finale, a hush falls over the crowd and two figures come tripping lightly onto the stage. The air is pierced by a clear note coming forth from the throat of Loren the Lark whom I re- member as Buck Ahlers. He is joined by a booming bass coming from tho netite redhead at his side. Yes, there adding her note to the finale is Miss K. K. Klintworth. So, the Flower Symphony for 1972 draws to a close and we leave for home with visions of dancing and soft music floating through our heads.
