The Spartans have seen more successful seasons than the 1972 year, but a great deal was accomplished. This is the first year ever that the entire Spartan team was awarded gold helmets because of their outstanding performances at various times during the season. It was a cold day at Almira for the Spartans on October 20. The game was one of defense as the Spartans held the Rebels to 8 points. However, the Spartans were scoreless. Final Score: 8-0. Rosalia's Homecoming was not a joyous event when they played the Lacrosse Tigers. It was more than a team effort, but their tough determination was not enough to crush the Tigers. The Spartans were edged 27-13. The Rosalia Spartans faced the Colton Wildcats for their final game of the season. Colton was rated as second in the state and they held their position as they defeated the Spartans 59-O. Mike Dale-Captain's Award and Inspirational Award, and Russ Prince-Captain's Award and Most Valuable Players Award.
