With this torch you can light the flame of Wisdom, ignite the spark of Eagerness, touch off the blaze of Glory, and enkindle the glow of Friendship. It is the hope of the Spartan Annual Staff that each and every student of RHS will make this theme a major theme in his or her future life. You have unselfishly given your time and effort in helping to bring a dream, our new high school, to reality. As our superintendent and friend you have been an inspiration to the students of RHS in both academic and athletic endeavors. We can always look to you for guidance, enthusiasm, a.nd encouragement. Thank you, Mr. White, for being the wonder ful person that you are! 335 F FICULTY You young people of today are facing a period of unrest and indecision which is unique in history. We read of sit-ins, walk outs and demonstrations against this or that. We have had draft cards burned and even our flag desecrated by young people in our nation. To the Class of 1967, I express my hope that our school has served you well, not only by pro- viding you with the educational background to suc- ceed at college or in a vocation, but by helping you to think clearly and constructively, by providing a link in the chain between our past heritage and the present, and by helping you to realize that the freedoms of our democracy must be balanced by responsible thought and action. To those returning next year, these same thoughts can make the coming school years a success. It is my hope that you feel the same pride that I feel in the achievements in leadership, scholar- ship, and activities. It has made 1966-1967 a school year worth remembering. Sincerely, Kenneth F. White ADMINISTRATOR MEASURE YOUR MIND'S HEIGHT BY THE SHADOW IT CASTS The Class of '67 will go forth into a world fraught with awesome and complex problems. We hope that we have helped to prepare you young people for such a world. If you will accept your role in the solution of today's problems, look upon those problems as re- sponsibilities, and accept those responsi- bilities as personal challenges, then you will find this to be an exciting and glorious age in which to live. You will find that what seems to be the worst of times can become the best of times. Best wishes always, Fred R. The Class of 69 started their second year Mike Garwood high school with a mixer after the victorious A1103 V056 Tekoa football game. Our next class activity was the mixer after the Freeman basketball game. During this season we purchased a snowcone machine for use by our class at games to raise money. Unfortunately, it was a rather shortlived idea. Our money-making project was a car wash and bake sale, which was a success. The cast was Dixie Freeze, Kathy Jaeger, Zanna Riley, Ken Mills, Bergen Bothman, Geri Campbell, Tom Solbrack, Debbie Van Dyke, Jackie Galbreath, Cliff Deckard, Sheldon Blank, Dale Reiger, and Bob Law. We were directed by Mrs. Tye. Bolts and Nuts was a three act mystery about a widow and her young niece looking for the uncle's money. The money was hidden in the house somewhere. They opened their house as a mental sanatorium andmany of the people who were supposed to be patients were only there to look for the money. The boyfriend of the niece was the lucky one to find the money. It was a lot of fun to present and l'm sure everyone enjoyed it. ,...-- i,A f X S all .II .4-. 1-vm? .. The play was a comedy about a young college boy who owned a large apartment plus a southern cook and a French butler-valet. In order to ac- quire these, he told his rich New Zealand uncle that he was married and had to support a mother- in-law so that his allowance would be doubled. Everything went fine until his uncle paid him a surprise visit during which time, he had his two best friends dress up as his wife and mother-in- law. This proved to be very amusing to both the cast and the audience. The Seniors Worked hard, under the direction of Mr. Broyles, to produce a highly successful play. ! At the same time we had the honor of being rated sixth in the state. Then the late season problems started, injuries! So of the remaining games, Rosalia went 1-2-1, losing to LaCrosse and St. John. I would like to say to the graduating seniors, that you all will be missed in future seasons and I wish you all the best of luck and success. gjwfjawm The fall of 1966 found the Rosalia High School football team completing a satisfying and successful football season Success came with a group of boys who were willing to work hard to achieve a winning season. A group of boys who learned to function as a team and who, individually, contributed a strong body, an alert mind, and an almost indomi- table spirit to the group effort. This was the first time in seven seasons that we were able to defeat every team we encountered at least once. It was a pleasure to coach a team that was so well balanced and who played such exciting defense. The league was especially tough, but we displayed some fine basketball in posting a 9-5 win-loss league record.
