For your sincere interest and helpful advice to the pep club, cheerleaders , and student body. For your laughter and cheerfulness which you have displayed in our moments of trial. For your school spirit and pep which was seen in your orange outfit every Friday. For your part in helping to make our Senior year memorable and successful, We take this opporttmity to thank you and express the appreciation of each and every student of Rosalia High School by dedicating the 1966 Spartan to you! L ' 'Me OM Abmmastnatuon BHD F ac ulty 5 The 1965-66 school year has been a memorable one for all of us at Rosalia High School. Can any of us forget No- vember 12th, the Friday on which we moved from the old building into the new onc? You have been the first to use the music area, new gymnasium, dressing room, and of course, our new classroom area. As much as wc appreciate the new fa- cilities, I am sure that many of us felt a degree of sadness in leaving the old and familiar surroundings. Generations of Rosalia students have passed through the old school's halls. The cracking plaster, creaking stairs , and sagging floors were all evidence of its many years of service to the youth of our com- munity. It has served its purpose well. The Class of 1966 is soon to make another move from the old to the new. Most of you will be leaving the friendly protection of your home, school, and community in which you have all grown up. As with the old school, I hope that you may look back on your old life with pleasant memories. May your years here serve you as well as it has served our town, and may your tran- sition to your new life be a pleasant, exciting, and challenging experience. Superintendent QZQZ-,.f ! ' - ,f ,Z 1 7f4f74'cZ7 f 6w'f4e The end of another school year. I would well say the emphasis placed on this statement or where the emphasis is placed would fairly well summarize the school year for each student. This is a year that the halls at the start of the year have been replaced with anew structure. This is good but always remember it is the students we educate for noty and the buildings only helps the process. We have done well on the athletic field and in academic pursuit but we also have taken our lickings. Yes, it has been a great year, a sad year, a happy year, a poor year but next year will be better. I will use John OXenham's quotationg To every man there openeth A way, and Ways , and a Way The High Soul climbs the High Way, The Low Soul gropes the Low, And in between on the misty flats, The rest drift in and fro. But to every man there opcneth a High Way and a Low And every man decideth the way his Soul shall go. and leave it as my thought for the seniors. We, the members of the White Shirt Gang plan to accomplish this by attend- ing athletic events in which our team is participat- ing. We feel that we can help promote school spirit by sitting in a section with the Pep Club and voicing our support for our team. A direct result of such an increase in spirit will benefit Ros alia's athletic teams. Since the White Shirt Gang just became a.n organization this year, we are still trying to com- plete our constitution. We wrote up a series of pamphlets dealing with appearance, school spirit, attitude, and study habits. In late spring, initiation for our new members was held at a night ceremony at Tekoa with their NHS. We had a computer dance and a ear wash-bake sale in May as our money making pro ject. St. John and Tekoa were invited to participate in the dance. This year for the first time our NHS awarded a scholarship of S50 to a deserving senior who was not in our organization. It has been both an honor and a privilege for me to represent the student body of Rosalia High at school and com- munity activities. My duties require me to call Student Council meetings when there is sufficient business to transact. I work with our principal, Mr. Blair, to promote a high level of understanding and of eo-operation between the students and the faculty. We moved into the new high school building on November IZ, 1965. I felt extremely honored when I was asked to thank at the Dedication Cer- emonies all those who made our new school building possilbe. Having done my best to follow the Constitution of Rosalia High School, Ihope that my term as president oi' the Associated Students has set a good example for the future Associated Student Body presidents to follow. But the true potential of the team was seen in the Kootenai and the LaCrosse games. The Kootenai game illustrates the ability of the team to think and adapt to a new situation-- eleven man football. The LaCrosse game showed us that determination and desire can overcome many obstacles. With attributes such as these, the Rosalia students will con- tinue to be successful in both athletics and life. gal JE.-Maw The fall of 1965 found Rosalia High School football team training in the early morning hours. The determined football team rolled over their first game with Colton by a score of twenty-six to zero. The climax of the season came when a successful team with seven wins and no losses faced the neighboring St. John team for the Whitman County Championship. This game ended in a disappointing defeat for the mighty Spartans. The 1965 Spartans ended their season with a nine win and one loss record-- a record which indicated the stamina, leader- ship and cooperation of its student body--a record of which any coach can be proud of. 53 'fi .EV f WlL if as A 7-1 aw 9 3 . , , H ., ..Q , if 151 ,7 yy- ai! wa' 1' +1 fffgj , ,W ,W QM ,A ' ,p . , fa. . ..- -.L,...,, pnn--- Aw A A. , mfvvfpgvzygtf . Iwas especially proud of the team and the cheering section during the County and District tournaments . Dur- ing these tournaments we played most of our games under a do or die situation. The effort which was displayed was tremendous. I know a great deal was learned by all of us in re- gard to the value of athletics. The graduating seniors will leave positions which will be difficult to fill, but if the pat- tern which has been developed this year is continued in the future, we can expect to have many more fine seasons. gag 59 3 P ,4 4 1 21 1 5.
