The most strenuous job in education is that of junior high school principal. He must cope with a diverse group of individual students and teachers , each with different goals and theories. Confronting angry students, facing school board pressures , establishing rapport between parents and community are among the sometimes frustrating obligations met daily. But there are reward ing moments, too, for principals - the hope of opening day, the joys of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the sport season enthusiasm and the pride of graduation. Aifiifdut p Mfwullfw Mw-we At Roper the responsibility for those who work and study belongs not only to Principal J. L. Coward, but also to his assistants, Mrs. Henry Etta Gray, Mrs. Jeannette Reed, Mr. George Rucker and Mr. Herbert Ruffin. To them falls the task of disciplining. 1wt.s.F2eeaL MW-Rua6w The members of the administration best known to Roper Students are the Counselors. To Mrs. Alice Hamilton, Mr. Joseph Messina, and Mrs. Juanita Freeman, scores of Roper Students pour out their problems daily. The position requires understanding and the ability to make decisions, and is a center for aiding in the difficult adjust- ment period from adolescence to adulthood . Providing inspiration and assisting in the formation of a student's character are major reasons for our counselors' success. i ,wa 1-lmzefw Qeuenbifaode ! J an ,ws 7 snn p - M Mm Messina Mas. It provides pupils with experiences that are satisfying and directly useful to them in their daily lives. Through sparks of inspiration, colors on paper take shape in students' busy hands.
