DEDICATION Some of you graduates came to Roosevelt University directly from high school; others transferred from other colleges and universities. Each received a different impression of the school, not only because some were freshmen and others sophomores and juniors, but also be- cause no two persons react in the same way to the same situation. Therefore the memories which these pictures will awaken will be varied; some pleasant, others amusing, and still others perhaps a little sad. Even those of you who came to Roosevelt as freshmen reacted differ- ently to the school. coffee which seemed to last forever; the elevators which were out of order only and always when you were late for class or had to go from your 3rd floor locker to the library-these seven flights of stairs may be good for die figure IF you live to enjoy it!; and the day of a test for which you never seemed to be prepared-you didn't exactly want the instructor to be sick-but if he only would have decided to take an un- expected vacation for a few days! The library was mentioned-where only you were yelled at for talk- ing-never any of the others who were always talking, LOUDLY, while this was the first thing you had said in the last hour. Of course, there were always lectures, concerts, dedications of new rooms, and HOME- COMING. There wasn’t a HOMECOMING in 1956, but there were HOMECOMING weekends in 1957, 1958, and 1959. And it is to you, the graduates of the three classes of 1959, Febru- ary, June, and September, that the VANGUARD of 1959 is dedicated- it is your book.
