0l'l'L9COWLLl'Lg The weekend of October 24 26 was deslgnated the off1c1al Home comxng of Roosevelt M1l1tary Academy Fr1day evemng fest1v1t1es began Wlth the bonflre and pep rally whlch have preceded Homecom1ng football games for many years Saturday mormng the customary lnspectlon was held open to the publlc and the cadets sought to make a good showlng under the watchful eye of the spectators The lnspectlon was undoubtedly a success Saturday afternoon 1n Splte of poor Weather many parents were pxesent for the b'1ttal1on rex1ew Followmg the TGVIGW Bob Lang and has clack squad put on a remarkable exh1b1t1on of close order dr1ll Saturday excnlng saw the RMA football squad pltted aga1nst a strong Plophetstown Hlgh School Both cadets and parents thronged the stands to see the gud 1ron battle The cadets fought hard but to no ava1l P1 ophetstown beat the Rough Rxders 43 to 6 Our lone tally was made by Jon Wald Follow1ng the game the Homecom1ng banquet was held 1n the V F W hall The mam course was frled ch1cken and everyone had h1S f1ll Dur1ng the dlnner group smgmg organ mus1c and select1ons by the Chorus were enjoyed The maln speaker of the evemng was the late Captaun Fred Mac Arthur who spoke on The Ideals of Theodore Roosevelt HIS forceful speech captlvated both cadets and parents al1ke and was a flttlng trlbute to Roosevelt Whose memory was especlally honored on thls h1S one hun dredth date of blrth The annual Homecom1ng ball followed Wxth the mus1c belng pro Vlded by a former alumnus Carroll Baker The corps was not due IH t1ll 1 00 A M Needless to say everyone had a good tlme On Sunday mornlng the Coffee for parents and facuty was held As usual thls offered an opportunlty both to parents and teachers to d1s cuss the progress of the cadets From 10 30 A M to 5 15 the cadets were g1ven passes Homecom1ng th1S year was a huge success and W1ll long be remem bered for 1tS atmosphere of galety Pagc Elghty sm C t 7 1 v . 1 c '. .
