Our city of 85,000 is considered by all who live or visit here as an outstanding community in which to live, to raise a family, and make a living. Our economy is a rich one. It is based upon agriculture and the processing of agricultural products. We have the world's largest nery, Tri Valley, and the world's largest winery, Gallo Wine, and host of other agriculturally related businesses. Our firmly established City policy is to discourage industry Can- H not related to agriculture and to control urban growth so as not to cover up our valuable prime farm land. I wish that I could be with you you read this letter to see how well we and those who followed us succeeded in saving this most fertile food basket for mankind. as have Although lite has been pleasant for most of us, there are many who live in substandard conditions.
