l i - Blue Prlnts For Progress Progress has been defined by Webster as Advancement in growth, development or orderly course toward maturity or completxon During the past four years graduating senxors have been busy at the draftmg board preparing plans to guide them in their life's work How well these years were spent will be portrayed in the structures they bu1ld Some w11l continue at the draftxng board as they enter college Others will take up their apprentxce tools and start early work on that edl.f1Ce of human endeavor whxch w1ll serve as a monument of their lives Progress of the future is dependent upon the exactness wlth whlch the blue prints have been prepared, for as Henry Ward Beecher so aptly sa1d, ' Laws and lnstltutxons are constantly tendmg to gravntate Like clocks, they must be occasxonally cleansed, and wound up, and set to true tlme ' In each generatxon there are those who look backwards, others whose vislon extends no further than the present world in which we llve To these groups the future IS only as the present or the past The1r blue prmts are not of progress But at the drawing boards in each generation there were those not satlsfxed with blue prmts already fashioned Thexr keen minds looked to the future knowmg that progress IS not stat1c, nor does it follow a straight upward lxne, but reaches mto the heights of human endeavor wlth a spiral of progress and retrogressxon The monuments of these people wnll have foundations buxlt on sweat, and blood, and tears, but whose spires w1ll reach into the heavens of a new day of peace and pros perlty To those who feel that thexr fonu' years of hlgh school endeavor mark an end, let them hark to the words of N P W1111s delwered more than work and no devlce Press on!
