Dedlcatlon . . . Few gxrls who have left Roosevelt over the past three and a half decades have failed to ex perience and appreciate the loving and firm guidance of Miss Rule Pinney, who is retiring this year as our Dean of Glrls The class of 1953 feels deeply honored to have the opportunity to dedicate its yearbook to her, in recogmtxon of all that she has contributed to our school commumty The helpful mfluence and sympathet1cd1rect1onwluchM1ssP1nney has given us over the past years cannot begin tobe measured or acknowledged adequately 1n words Boys, as well as girls, have profited from the well supervised social program wh1ch Miss Pinney has sponsored Our yearly crop of proms, dances, musical, dramatic, and athletic programs is thoughtfully set up 1n her half of 107 Besides the onerous signing of excuses for wh1ch most students know her, she works quietly behind the scenes helping girls to meet and overcome every klnd of problem, regolclng 1n each g1r1 s tnumph, no matter how small, and always sympathlzing w1th her troubles Even though M1ss P1nney is an admmlstrator, she has never lost sight of the classroom in her perspectxve since she started 1n our system as a teacher of Latm, German, and English Always a fxrm believer 1n the lmportance of extra curncular activit1es in the school schedule she was the sponsor of a wnters club which produced and edited The Teddy Bear a publxcation of students creat1ve Wrltlllg She may well take prmde in the fact that she was the fxrst to fill the positlon she retlres from th1s June and that her mfluence there has grown more each year due to her own mcreaslng diligence and devotlon to the Job We never fall to marvel at her ab1lity to know so many of the 1000 gxrls who were here this year and to remember the many thousands whom she has known through her years at Roosevelt Emerson sa1d A frlend is a person w1th whom I may be s1ncere Before hlm, I may think aloud To us Mlss P1nney 1s1ust such a friend Her tolerance and interest 1n people br1ng out the best in those w1th whom she deals We know that her wlsdom and sp1ritual depth w1ll cont1nue to enrich the hves of those around her 1n future years We can only express our heartfelt grat1tude for our share in these qualmes for wh1ch we shall always remember Mlss P1nney 6 O O 5 - . , .
