These include gen- eral and special reference Volumes and fiction books to suit the taste ot all types of student readers. MATHEMATICS TYPIN G Students who plan to enter engineering college or other Vocations that de- mand skill in mathematics usually take algebra, ge- ometry, solid geometry, and trigonometry. Com- mercial and general course students usually study commercial arithmetic or general mathematics. Students learn to be pro- ficient and accurate typists through daily lessons, drill, and speed tests, with a re- quired speed of fifty Words a minute in typing IV.

As administrative head he is responsible tor the policies of the high school and for the type of instructional and ex- tracurricular activities at Roosevelt. COOKING IOURNALISM Students here study nutrition values and dietary requirements, and discuss the purchasing of food to the best ad- vantage. They gain fundamental skill in the art oi preparing and serving foods, climaxing their work with teas, lunch- eons, and more elaborate full-course meals served to visiting guests. The journalism class publishes the Wy-News publication, a bi-Weekly, which each student receives tree. The news, features, and puzzles are all cre- ated and edited by students. CHEMISTRY DRAFTING Through experiments in the chemis- try laboratory application is made of the knowledge which students obtain from their class discussions. Mechanical drawing is a basic train- ing for all kinds of modern industrial work. The boys here learn how to use and to make blue prints and investigate the various specialized tields of work in which this skill is applied.
