Basketball RCVICW Wlth Just one year of QXDGTIGDCQ back of them ou1 team began thls year w1th the determlnatlon to make a name for themselves 1n the basket ball world Thell success has been most remarkable though not wlnnmg all of the games played our team has dlsplawed champlonshxp form and much IS to be expected of them 1n the future In the first game we lost to Otterbeln Home and the outlook seemed rather dark but thmgs bnghtened up when vue won the next two games 1n successlon playlng agamst two well known teams We lost to Spungfield and Stlvers two teams that made good records at the State Tournament It was ln the final game of the season when we played Steele that our team dlsplayed the best form of the season The flghtlng Teddles llterally outplayed the strong Steele team 1n ex ery department of the game all through the game Steele found It next to lmp0SS1bl6 to penetrate our defense Roosevelt was 1n the lead at all perlods of the game vuth the final score standmg at twenty to eleven ln favor of Roosevelt Thls xlctorx put our team 1n the runnmg up posltlon of the clty champlonshlp In the tournament we plcked our old rlval Stn els fo1 our hrst game and after g1v1ng them one of thelr hardest battles of the season we were defeated by the score of elghteen to eleven To p1ck any 1nd1v1dual stars would be unfalr to that fine Splrlt of loyal unselflsh, cooperatlon of the whole squad It IS sufficient to say that whenever a member of the squad vsas g1ven a chance to play he played the game for all that was ln h1I1'l Wlth the fact 1n mmd that we only lose one regular bx graduatlon We hase hlgh and excltlng hopes spread out before us fo1 the commg season f145j . .
