The young must care enough to question and to respond Part of the senior's year was devoted t the required subject of Health Education. Lasting one semester, the course highlighte such topics as nutrition, anatomy, disease interpersonal relationships, and mental health. Second semester classes were co-ed. Due t building construction, the girls, classes wer moved several times. The general curriculu was supplemented hy films and speakers wh added personal experience and informatio during E period. All sophomores and juniors participate in required PE classes. Senior hoys took P the semester they did not have Health Educa tion, but senior girls were exempt from P the entire year. Every first period, Mr. l-lull' special co-ed class met for tumbling in th Boys' Gym. Refreshments A new program was introduced in the lndustrial Arts department: an Air Craft Assernhly Mechanics class was offered after school. Students who completed the one semester course- were given priority for jobs at Boeing. A hot metals area was also opened in the metal shop. The Home Economics department offered a variety of electives. ln th foods classes students experimente with new and unusual dishesg in tha clothing classes they learned proper techniques for making a garment, Some students elected to take either Home Living or Home Management in a package with l-lealth. Many students used an extra period to take a class in the Business Educa' tion department. A new, one-year shorthand course, hased on the alpha- het, was offered to seniors.
