Changing Times Roosevelt High School, although facing serious over-crowding, is adopting some of the programs suggested by educators like Dr. Conant. Roosevelt has a system of in- dividualized programs for students and a Foreign Language Department offering in- struction through the fifth year. The Mathematics, Science, History, Foreign Language, and Language Arts Departments offer accelerated classes. New courses, including Russian and Math IX and X, broaden the base of Roosevelt education. These recent developments will help Roose- velt maintain its standing as one of Americas top high schools in percentage of Merit Scholarships awarded. Nancy Busigin, Anne Rankin, Judy Shepherd, and Barbara Eustis practice culinary arts in Mrs. Celia Michel's Foods class. 18 Math Analysis is a college-level course designed to introduce the student to higher mathematics. Swing Band's Bob Bryan symbolizes the quality of Roosevelt's musicians.
