F fy-vu-N. 71-'Y BELL, ROBERT BERTHIAUME, SHERIDAN BONINE, CATHERINE Physical Education Boys' Adviser Commercial Act.-Intramural Act.-Roughriders Act.-Evening Duty U. of Washington U, of Washington U. of Washington Roosevelt's Teachers When The first issue of Strenuous Life was published in l923, the faculty section contained the photographs of forty-six teachers. Of those original forty-six, three still teach here: Mrs. Anne Moody, Mrs. Matilda Gilbreath, and Mr. Sheridan Berthiaume. Two of Roosevelt's teachers hold doctor's degrees--Dr. Homer Knight and Dr. Edward Liston, Miss Aurora Kipperberg, who taught Physical Education here last year, is now in the Netherlands, as part of a program of exchange teachers. She has exchanged with Miss Hendricka Leeksma, who also teaches Physical Education. Mr. lack Greaves, formerly in the Science department, is currently attending Yale University through a John Hay Fellowship. Mrs. Edith Norman, last year's head ofthe Foreign Language Department, is spending this year in Spanish-speaking coune tries, in preparation for the Spanish Language textbook she is writing. Miss Helen Anderson is probably Roosevelt's most-traveled teacher. She has visited many countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America. Tied for the distinction of being born farthest from Roosevelt are Miss Leeksma, born in the Netherlands, and Mrs. Ann Grodal, born in Norway. Roosevelt's Teachers do more than share with their students the wealth of information which they themselves possess, they prepare their students with the knowledge, skills and crafts so important to a full adult life.
