A516 leads PROVIDING A THRESHOLD to Roosevelt activities, the ASR is an integral part of the school. Through roll room proiects, stu- dents were given the opportunity to become active in ASR. Some of these were: a Hi-way in the front hall, decorated rooms for Color Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day gift boxes for needy families, and drives for better conduct at games and assemblies. All-school activities included regaining the Golden Axe from Lincoln by winning the Pass Sales contest, and serving as host at a leadership conference attended by ofhcers of the eight Seattle high schools. Representatives were sent to a Traffic-Safety Con- ference. One of the last events of the year was traditional Cam- pus Day with its cottons, asseme bly, and baseball game. A democratic student govern- ment served as leader and co- ordinator of ASR. The ASR Cabi- net and Student Council worked to improve scholarship standards, roll proiects, student conduct, and teen-age driving, and tried to get every interested student into acti- vities. The Advisory Council aimed to enforce school rules and to counsel offenders, This door was opened wide from sign-ups in the fall to com' mencement in the spring when the open door was closed for the summer. gc: ww, 69 5759 as ASR OFFICERS for the school year I953-l954: Paul Espinoza ftreasurerl, Jerry Davis lpresidentl, Linda Bird lsecretaryj, Fritz Hull lvice-presidentl, lvaly Jones Ihistorianl.
