Franklin Came QQ ARNIE YOUNG TEDS O . . . QUAKERS 31 Getting off to a fast start the Franklin Quakers downed the Teds 31 to 0 The Green Wave scored five touchdowns three durlng the first half and two during the second half The Roughrlders took the kickoff and four downs later were forced to klck On the Quakers first play .lon Wamba completed a 65 yard pass to Babe Bates for a touchdown A few minutes later Roosevelt fumbled and Franklin recovered on the Teds 12 yard llne Two plays later Wamba went over the goal llne on a quarterback sneak The thnrd touchdown of the first half was scored when Erme Tayler intercepted a Roughrlder pass and sprinted across the goal lane for a t d The Teds came fighting back In the second half but met a stone wall defense m the Green Wave llne Despite this durung the fourth quarter Roosevelt managed to make two first downs The Quakers fourth and fifth touchdowns came as a result of penaltnes and fumbles that plagued the Teds all day DUANE ROGER DAVE SOLHAUG SCHWARTZ KELLY .IES GROESBECK 41'

The Teds' first scoring chance came when Young flipped a ten-yard pass to Bean on the Grizzly six-yard line. Three plays later Bean cracked over for the score. .lohnston's try-for-point was good and the Teds led 7-0. A few plays later Peringer intercepted a Q. A. pass and returned to the Grizzly 32-yard line. Two passes from Bean to Don Pierce accounted for another touchdown and the Cowan Parkers led 'I3-0. After the kick-off, Jack Wilbourne completed three long passes to the Roosevelt 21-yard line. With 35 seconds to go Wilbourne circled right end for a touchdown to end the first half. Speedy Don Pierce put six more points on the scoreboard by inter- cepting a Q. A. pass and going all the way for a touchdown.
