i:e:1BrinnipaI XVHICN Rooslcvi-:lxr opened, the surroundings so familiar to us now were quite ditferent. The community had no paved streets. No busses ran on 15th Avenue and pupils crossed Cowen Park on a wooden footbridge. The school enrollment was only 1250 and a number of classrooms were vacant. The taxpayers, skeptical of the plans of the school board, grumbled at spending a mil- lion for a school so far out in the suburbs. llow- ever, the rapid northward growth of the city proved the foresightedness of the school-plan- ners. In five years the school grew so large that, in 19137-538, a sizeable addition to the building had to be constructed. Recently, the city-wide decline in high school enrollment has relieved our crowded conditions so that we have been able to End space for our fine radio, movie, costume, and counseling rooms. XVe have also been so fortunate as to acquire the liroula lllemorial pipe organ, the handsome new green and gold curtain, the elec- trical scoreboard, and most recently of all, the splendid new organ chimes. Thus has your school grown until it is one ofthe finest equipped in the Northwest. These splendid facilities should inspire us to make the next twenty-five years even more successful than our first.
