Wursttest highlights club schedule Roosevelt students brushed up on their pol- kas, put on their lederhosen, and made ready tor the weinerschnitzel for their annual German Club visit to the Wurstfest in New Braunfels. The group ate a variety ot german foods and lis- tened tothe music of Myron Floren. ln November, the German Club entered the MacArthur Spruchtest Language Contest. Mark Baradziei was a three time winner. As always many sweethearts were made happy with a gingerbread heart made by the German Club. The club baked and decorated over 160 hearts. Also deciding to have some athletic fun, the club organized a soccer team. The team plays other schools and language departments. 1 German Club Otticers are: Bill Gisler, Gitta Grether, Sarah Sams, Kim Trotter, Carolyn Gisler. Members visited museums and tasted rich cuisine at some of the most famous res- taurants in the country. Symposium was also a major event for club mem- bers. -L, X1 1 a. Vi.. , 3 Rifle team places first Rifle team won fourth place overall at Gon- zales, Texas. The very successful freshman rifle team placed first in district. Orienteering team vvon third at Trinity vvhile Color Guard vvon first at the same meet. Commander of the Varsity male drill team is Rod C. Hackney. Heading the Riderettes is Laura Lee Crogham. Officer of the varsity rifle team is Darrell Miller, Color Guard's commander is Mark Moravits. David Johnson is commander of the ROTC Brigade. Traditional activities held by ROTC are its mili- tary ball and major inspection. This year the mili- tary ball was held at Blossom and the music was provided by the Fifth Army Band.
