Winter shovv is comedy When someone is invited to dinner, they are expected to stay tvvo, three, maybe four hours, but in TB's i'The lvlan Who Came to Dinnerfl dinner lasted three vveeks. ln Kaufman and l-lart's three-act comedy, drama's winter pro- duction, a vvidely-knovvn radio orator named Sheridan Whiteside vvas invited to the Stanley residence for dinner. As he left, he slip- ped and fell on a piece ot ice on the doorstep. Because ot a bro- ken hip, he had to stay vvith the Stanleys. Whiteside totally disrupted the Stanley household vvhile his hip mended: he meddled in other people's business, he took over the house and cluttered up rooms and he received exotic Christmas presents from strange triends such as movie stars and mad scien- tists. That confusion and madness made the shovv comical. When the shovv ran tor three nights in December, not only the audience but the actors and actresses as vvell enjoyed the Ameri- can classic. 1 Kathy Hughey, portraying a glamorous movie star, strikes a dramatic pose, vvhile Fred Bemmert, as a vvidely-knovvn radio orator, looks away in disgust. 2 Bicky Bozarth and Debi Brinegar are tvvo comical characters in the 7 shovv, 3 John Eddleman and Tom Jumper are plain-clothed policemen sent by David Whitehead in The Man Who Came to Dinner, ,, , , ,, ,. ..,.. .,.,. ,.,,,,..,,., Jack Burgess Robin Burgess Carole Burkett lvlatt Burns Busty Burnett Connie Butlin 28 plays

Mike Carty Mary Linda Anne Chaney Edward Christmas - Teddy's way Spirit of giving really got to TB stu- dents, as clubs and organizations donated everything from time to voices to keep the spirit of Christ- mas alive. Student Council, Key Club, Span- ish Club and German Club, working through the Christmas Clearing Bureau, gave not so fortunate fami- lies gifts of food, clothing and toys. Keyettes played Santa to dozens of children at Bexar County Hospital, as did French Club members for Bowie Elementary children. Seniors donated gifts to 'fElf Louise. Teddy's folks sponsored many activities, helping to bring out the best of the Christmas season. Sen- ior Class ran the annual door deco- rating contest, promising a pack- aged party for the winning entry. Student Council conducted a candy cane sale and decorated the cafete- ria for the Dec. 1O dance. Key Club members hung decorations at Wind- sor Park Mall and helped the Ft. Sam Houston Optimist Club sell trees. Music was plenty, as the band staged its annual Christmas concert Dec. 16. Highlighting choral per- formances were the Madrigal Feastes Dec. 12 and 16 and a per- formance at the USAA building Chamber and Chorale choirs per- formed at St. Joseph's Church Dec isa Casanova Cavazos Cearlock Charles 'i .1 't it 3 and at City Hall for Mayor Lila Cockrell Dec. 9. Chamber Choir and a special select group, the Feaste Singers, sang their Twelth Night Concert Jan. 6. Freshmen and Cam- erada choirs performed for the PTA Dec. 9 and Feaste Singers per- formed at various country clubs. More singing prevailed as Cho- rale, Camerada and Freshman choirs caroled at Windsor Park Mall Dec. 7 and 9. Biver performances were also staged by the three choirs Dec. 11 and 20. Other selected groups entertained at Mama's and Avery's restaurants, Dec. 21-23. Keyettes caroled at Broadway Manor Nursing Home, and German Club sang through Windcrest. Several clubs made their own fun by having private parties. Latin Club Dec. 7 staged a mini f'Saturnalia, a week-long event of Boman feasts. Spanish Club members gathered at Janeen Mason's house Dec. 12 for a party complete with pinata. Christmas was truly a Christmas made to remember. Many felt the joy of giving, while others, because of them, felt the joy of receiving. They were the ones who most remember Christmas 1976 . . . and they remember it as Christmas, Teddy's 5 way. -qs 30 Christmas S B 2 i
